If I had to choose it would’ve been Jinbe in WCI. The tragedy would be that Jinbe never got to actually ride with Luffy but instead sacrificed so they could escape. He would end up being remember as an honorary SH

Wow what's with the Usopp hate? The only way he would die is fooling you all that he's dead. No Strawhat should die, it achieves nothing narratively at this point.

If someone were to die it should pack a punch, maybe kill Sanji?

The idea of a strawhat dying has always been loosely brought up, but never taken seriously. Since we are far into the series with a fair amount of nakama and an extensive amount of arcs,

Who would you kil?
When would you kill them?
And why kill them at that time?

It can be a character you hate, but treat it like how you think oda could possibly send them off.

Personally, id choose usopp back in water 7. I'd have him go down stubbornly with the going merry when the storm hits.

This means no sogeking, no burning of the world gov flag, and no spandam sniped moment. But i'd keep his moment where he calls out to luffy to stand up and fight lucci. And it would be a shared moment with both merry and usopp telling the crew to jump into the sea.

And going merry's send off would be usopps funeral too. As a bonus I would add a cover story every so often of usopp sailing the going merry and picking the spirits of those who have passed on, as he slowly accomplishes his goal of an "8000 man crew".

Zoro importance isn't high as Nami (navigator), Chopper (doctor), Robin ( archeologisy for her knowledge & Poneglyphs reading) , Franky (shipwright), Sanji (cook)
Luffy can always replace him or get allies to help him beat crews.

Same with Jinbei. He can go and nothing changes much.
Ussop is just awful ...must go
Chopper been useless combat wise but well...he's a doctor so keep him.
Brook ...he's cool but he's not an important piece.

I sincerely hope not, then we wouldn't have to waste chapters on things like 'this is for Lanji who got clapped by a woman', or 'I wish Lanji was here to cook for us again'. Just give them a happy ending.

To answer the question it probably would be Lanji though, Oda has been replacing his role in the crew for a while now. Jinbei has taken his spot as 3rd strongest and Yamato would have taken the 4th spot.
