Speculations 1044 discussion. What is Gear 5’s drawback?

#1
Oda has said that his favorite manga is Dragon Ball.

I suspect that this yellow haired Gear 5 form vs Kaido bout is gonna play out like Goku vs Frieza, with Kaido putting up some resistance but clearly being inferior and on the back foot even with his ultimate state/attacks.

In other words, this form will upper mid diff or low high diff Kaido.

Something this powerful needs to have a drawback so as not to be story breaking. What do you think it will be?

I was thinking that it could have a time limit similar to Gear 4, followed by a period of incapacitation like the initial Gear 3/Gear 4 fights, but I don't know if that makes a lot of sense? Honestly, right now this power-up feels way more like an endgame power-up, like the one you'd see in the last fight of the series. Really hoping that Oda manages to properly figure out how to move forward with this huge change in the status quo.

The drawback is that luffy laughs too much

No drawback, the manga's nearing its conclusion so Luffy being this strong doesn't break anything, Oda can easily write Imu and/or Blackbeard to be able to counter it in some way.

It's definitely a sad day for Luffy vs Akainu agenda pushers though because Akainu's got zero counter to it and gets Blueno'd
this is definitely true

Because OP is nearly finished, even if Luffy is near roger tier post wano, it doesn't matter because every villain henceforth will be that strong.

I fail to see how this breaks the story when he is on his 5th round against Kaido and is still going to extreme diff. Even worse, he won't be able to put him down for good, that's Zoro's job. What this PU means is that Luffy won't need as many rounds to defeat his future opponents (hopefully one only).
So Luffy got a literal God's powers, the 'most ridiculous' power in the world that the world gvt have apparently been trying to get for 800 years so that he can... do the bare minimum and beat his opponent without losing several times first?

I don't think it will have that great of a drawback, for instance it will probably something goofy as well but won't affect Luffy that much.
We are going to the end of series, seeing Luffy out of Haki or maybe out of Rubber now would be really underwhelming.
My guess is the drawbacks will be less prevalent than the ones we saw in Gear 2, 3 and 4.

Luffy's having fun constantly in G5 so he will turn into an edgelord while not in G5.
