What kind of connection could Kaido possibly have with anything pertaining to Zoro's past that would warrant a flashback triggered by him?

Might be because ushimaru iz related to zoro.

Yeah, it has to be Wano! Too many connections to people surrounding Zoro and he needs a proper backstory.

There are lots of loose ends that are yet to be resolved :

- Is Nidai Kitetsu gonna lay around there with Kotetsu in mainland Wano ?
- Ame No Habakiri literally means Snake slayer. What are they gonna do about it ?
- Oda clearly is teasing a Zoro backstory.
- What did Hawkins mean by the prediction of the SH surviving in a month ?
- What about Onimaru who protected the graves and stocked the weapons ?
- What about finding a cure for the people of Ebisu ?
- Kanjuro wants to kill Hiyori.
- What are the extent of Toki's powers and the void century ? She is still a mystery.
- Tama seems to know more about the Kozuki that she is letting us know.
- Why did Denjiro protect Orochi ?

I hope Oda doesn't fast forward the arc and asspull of all these plot points with the shadowy figures
