General & Others A rival for Zoro

#41
A rival for Zoro will be (and is) Killer in some way. Not about WSS (Killer isnt a swordsman and doesnt care about that stuff at all), but as main fighter of their captain. Both want to get their captain into the Pirate King position and both are their main fighting force. Their right hand mans.
How could Killer be a rival for Zoro when his own captain isn't strong enough to be one

Koby/Helmepoo said they would get stronger and face them again in the new world
it's very likely they'll be close in power but rivals I guess not
Not really likely they will be close in power. Helmeppo is most likely galactic years below Zoro right now, that can't be slept on. And Zoro if making it alive will probably keep growing Post TS I bet.

Imagine this scenario for Wano.

Wano is full of powerful samurai. Some of them are actually loyal to Orochi.
There's this "guard dog", who was considered the BEST swordsman in Wano. Oda could make so that this samurai could even be at Mihawk's level, but due to Wano's isolation, could never go for the title of "WSS".
He's extremely dedicated to the "way of the sword".
Now imagine Kyoshiro is this character. No "Denjiro" BS. Zoro confronts him during Yasuie's execution, creating this mutual interest in their confrontation later on.
Orochi gets beheaded, but Kyoshiro and Fukurokujo would do that sneaky thing and secure him. Once he's running around the castle, Zoro confronts them (no Marco throwing him to the roof BS). Zoro wants to kill Orochi for what he did to Yasuie, and also fight Kyoshiro.
Then begins the fight between the man who wants to be the WSS vs Wano's strongest samurai.

Now, what did we get?
Stalled plot on the roof.
Stalled plot with Orochi's "death".

But somehow I hear/read people saying Wano is "zoro's arc".
People standards really are low apparently. As long as Zoro gets his checklist, doesn't matter if the story is garbage for it. :kayneshrug:

Kyoshiro was intriguing for sure. Than he was revealed to be Denjiro and based on everything we have seen, this wasn't a good choice on Oda's part. This guy as truly someone on Orochi's side had so much potential.

He had that villain like and even sadistic vibe. Oda could also have made him insanely powerful as well. This could have been an incredibly interesting plotline for Zoro, his character, his growth, his morals, his dream and maybe even give us other perspectives on swordmanship, through Kyoshiro.

I feel that if properly handled, it easily could have been one of the best fights in the manga in general.

By that logic, Bepo would be a rival to Zoro. Zoro’s always had Mihawk in his sights, the likes of Killer, King and everyone else is simply beneath him. He blazed past every one of Kaido’s right hand men to go for the dragon himself, Zoro’s ambition is far too grand to be matched by any mere silver medalist yonko or do nothing jobber like Killer.

Don’t see why Zoro needs a rival. Mihawk is his rival, always has been. Mihawk has basically replaced Shanks with Zoro as the only one that can satisfy his desire for a grand duel.

People thinking Zoro will only surpass Mihawk....Mate, Zoro will surpass Ryuma. Theres no rivals to that....
Assuming Zoro will not stand below EoS Luffy in particular, it's rather tougher than not to be confident he won't also stand as the strongest guy of all times. So basically the likes of Ryuma, possibly Joy Boy, being factored as well. Unless a peculiar God Tier system will be introduced and they would not make it there.

Yeah I know, but why Mihawk never visited? He should know its closed off so why he not set out to challenge the people there.. just saying its weird if he proclaims to be the ultimate best
Idk man, all we know is mihawk is wss. all that means at this point is he has never outright lost a duel since acquiring that title and he had to fight renowned swordsmen to acquire it

Who to challenge bro? a fat thief doji, kyoshiro? king?
are those better than shanks?:few:
Strange he never tried to go after oden though, he was renowned. Plus no one knew he died for several years
