Character Discussion A subtle parallel between Luffy and Blackbeard?

#1
Something's nagging me but i may not be able to express it well.

Luffy and Blackbeard have totally opposing taste in food and drinks.

On the contrary, do Luffy and Blackbeard have a similarity in breaking the "patterns"?

---

- for example, Teach entered the old formation of Shichibukai where each member of which (or is it all of them? Moria-bat, Doflamingo-flamingo, Hancock-snake, Mihawk-hawk etc) had the theme of animal. So Teach broke the Old Shichi animal pattern since he had no animal theme.

vs

- while Luffy broke the pattern by directly opposing their authority and strength in direct battle, surpassing them in combat one by one. While Luffy while usurping them in combat, he is actually an animal himself (Monkey)

---

- Blackbeard toppled Whitebeard, so "white became black", and Teach took away Whitebeard's power. So he breaks the pattern and also tarnishes an Emperor's "identity" to some extent?

Vs

- While Luffy is the "finisher" of unsettled story and unfinished business. Nami had a business with Arlong, Luffy settled it. Vivi and Nefertari had beef against Croc, Luffy settled it. Even more emphasized in Dressrosa: Trafalgar Law had a dark story to be settled against Doflamingo (had the right to defeat him narratively), but Luffy is the one finishing the story for him. [Momo]- osuke and Oden had a beef against Kaidou, but it's most likely Luffy-[Taro] who will finish the Momotaro story.

---

I dunno what to make about this thought, just wanna share it here, i think its a nice subtle touch, and i do hope Oda emphasize it - this kind of polar opposite vibe - even more in the upcoming arcs.

It was also stated somewhere that BB started his real adventure by leaving WB crew and getting Yami DF around the same time Luffy started his.
