Garo really sat and knew what CDs do and yet only moves to Gid Valley to fight Roger
The worst part is that he even defended CDs to keep their slaves
The biggest nonesense I have ever heard is that Garp only recently became a bad dude to God Valley.
Man, Garp did not retire as a Marine after Kong/Sengoku sent the Marines out on a literal baby killing mission to get any potential child born in a certain timeframe that COULD be Rogers child, all while he knowingly hid Ace. Oda will NEVER bring that plot point up again, but its still canon.
Ace, as far as we are told anyway, also literally did jack shit to earn an execution. He never killed, raped, pillaged etc. He was put to death for who his father was. That was the justification Sengoku, Garps buddy, gave for him being put to death.
Sure, Garp still staying a Marine after he personally helped the Celestial Dragons during their literal genocide contest that happens all three years did not exactly help his perception, but what version of One Piece are some of you people consuming where Garp was not always a dog shit person?
Why the fuck did he not raise Ace as a Marine/train him personally like he did with Coby? Why give him away to a goddamn Mountain Bandit? He isn't even a good grandfather OR father for that matter? Literally every person in his personal life chose to not become a Marine like him for their own reasons.
He did not train Ace, Luffy, and if he trained Dragon judging by Sabo having DRAGONS combat style either he also did not train Dragon or Dragon deemed Garps whole brawler combat style to be shit and developed his own.
Garp is a character that I will NEVER understand people feeling even a lick of sympathy towards.
Fuji has been an Admiral for roughly two years at most and has done more good to change the rotten structure of the World Government than Garp has in over 6 decades he has been a Marine.
Fuji also gave Akainu FAR more push back than Garp seemingly veer did with Kong or Sengoku.
The fact of the matter is Garp was always a bad guy. Oda just doubles down on how many things he looked past and still chose to stay a Marine.
