I am going with Ace. Sabo was cool in the flashback and the cover story design looked promising but once he entered the story he suddenly became boring design wise and so far character wise.

But I like his fighting style and want to see if with the Mera Mera he can do something similar to Ace later because his fight against BB was really awesome and this panel is still one of my favs

It took a while for me to accept Sabo, but when I had, I realised I prefer him over Ace.

1) I love his noble-outfit design despite hating nobles, showing he has some remnants of his childhood despite completely rebelling against it. Scar too, of course.

2) Oda took his time with Sabo and gave him a better and more solid backstory than what Ace has. Sabo has an ambition to tackle with the World Government and bring it down with his own efforts, while Ace... Wanted to make Whitebeard pirate king - which is meh.

3) Ace and Sabo aren't the same in any way apart from wanting to take care of Luffy and DF, and those who think they are should reread the manga tenfold.

4) I appreciate Sabo being the only one who could comfort Luffy over Ace's death, but at the same time completely just blamed himself. Him deciding that he will be there for Luffy when he's in trouble despite any Revolutionary business is the second time a major character sacrifice is being made, after Zoro putting his ambition on the side for his captain.

5) He's ruthless. Way more interesting to see than anything Ace has done.

Ace is the original. Copy-cats don't deserve the same respect as the original does. There's nothing to really like about Sabo besides his design for me, which is dope. I believe that it would have been a lot more meaningful for him to have stayed dead.

I 100% disagree with you here. Ace never had a real father in his life. Garp could hardly count since he was rarely around. He grew up hearing about how evil his biological father was and how the World Government was trying to find the son of Roger and execute him. People hated Roger. It is then that he meets Whitebeard, a man who's willing to look past aside Ace's lineage, a man that–even though he tried killing multiple times–kept him on his ship. It was baffling to Ace. But as he learned over time, Whitebeard's love was genuine and he truly considered Ace as his son. Ace has finally met a real father in his life. There's nothing meh about him wanting to make Whitebeard the Pirate King after that. To Ace's eyes, there's no one more deserving of the title. It is at Marineford where all of this is exemplified the most. Ace, on the verge of being executed for being the demon child of Gol D. Roger, is then saved by his family led by his real father.

I know what it is, his father issues and lack of love. Which was very heartbreaking and sad, but I just don't find it as compelling. Ultimately then he dedicated his whole pirate life to his father Whitebeard. Young people should strive for their own goals, not give up their dreams and wishes for a parent.

That's a pass from me especially since Sabo has way more integrity in any shape and form, but each to their own.

I forgot to mention that Ace had the advantage of proper bonding with Luffy from the readers' perspective, because Sabo was clearly a late addition to the story. Late addition, but well executed.

Going by my heart's content I would say that Sabo is the character I like the most, I don't know who is better, because that depends on which parameters we are considering here.

Sabo's temper is something I can't find in any OP character, this guy gives off the vibes of a true adventurer, he would never hesitate a single moment if it's up risking his own life.

He has a great sense of justice which I like, and he actually has a developed personality unlike a ton of secondary OP characters.

Well, there are not many options for a pirate in OP. The idea that young kids should have their own goals is fine for real life, but doesn't work well in this particular case. The only goal established for young rookie pirates in OP is to either become the pirate king. Even Zoro's goal is now in conjunction with Luffy's. Everyone wants to become the pirate king. I'm glad that Ace's main ambition is different. Would have been stale and boring had his been similar to everyone else. It also makes the most sense for his character imo.

That's not really true, every Straw Hat has a unique dream, so should every other individual. Doesn't matter if it's big or small.

And I'm not saying it didn't make sense for Ace, I'm just saying I find a noble who wants to bring down the World Government more interesting. :absojustice:

Definitely Ace. Sabo’s amnesia was one of the most contrived and dumb plot conveniences that I have ever come across in a manga. It is so contrived it almost sounds like a bullshit excuse from Sabo.
Sabo: “I forgot everything but suddenly remembered my entire tragic backstory when I read about Ace’s death at Marineford in a newspaper.”

Anyone with a brain: “So how come news articles about the pirating activity of either of your two notorious brothers did nothing to jog your memory? Why was the threat of Ace’s highly publicised upcoming execution not enough to make you remember but his death somehow inexplicably was? In fact, was Luffy not considered dead for a short while after his last confrontation with Kuma? If so then wouldn’t Luffy and his entire crew been reported as such? If so then why did Luffy’s supposed death do nothing but Ace’s death did?”

Sabo:

Anyway, since the title explicitly states “no PL shit” then I shan’t talk about their Penis Length. Power level wise though, Sabo probably wins. :kappa::afrokappa:

More stupid is that fodder knew about Sabo but the likes as Ace or Garp not.

But hey everyone thought it was an other guy named Sabo

Dumber than Bleach in your opinion? :doffytroll:

Yeah, he was clearly completely pushed into the story out of nowhere, similarly to... sigh... Oden. But one could say Ace dying was so traumatic that it triggered his memory, this actually happens in real life.
