Dumber than Bleach in your opinion? :doffytroll:

Yeah, he was clearly completely pushed into the story out of nowhere, similarly to... sigh... Oden. But one could say Ace dying was so traumatic that it triggered his memory, this actually happens in real life.
Well Sabo OK the other side was hinted as soon as we have seen Ace's grave with 3 cups on the cover story

Oden simply came from nothing like Yamato

I prefer Ace. But I don't dislike Sabo.
However there was something I didn't like too much with Ace, it was his portrayal and how he acted in MF.
He was badass and cool during his introduction, also badass when he confronted Blackbeard. But in MF I think Oda wanted to put too much emotions in it. I didn't really feel the connection with Whitebeard.
I liked him in his flashback too, that's when he started to grow.

But aside from Sabo going after Ace's DF, Sabo is a good character and has a different personality. He is not a copycat imo.

I agree, especially with this part. But I guess he was a broken man at that point? Just his unwillingness to fight until Luffy reached him irked me a lot.

:feelscryingman::feelscryingman::feelscryingman: but it was super emotional

I don't know about that

Wano seems in Oda's mind since a long time, and Wano/Oden plot line is linked to raftel and One piece so it is likely that Oden has been in Oda's mind for a long time
I think he came up with Oden around halfway in his story. The problem is that One Piece being very long it has some inconsistencies with the first part of the story and even after ts.
But yeah he didn't create him at the start of Wano.
Regarding Yamato, Kaido having a daughter doesn't surprise me. It doesn't have a big impact on the verse so it's no big deal.

To be fair, the plot stupidity that revolves around Sabo like a moon to a planet is more noticeable in a manga that is decent (or at least was still decent when that plot point was revealed).

Bleach is so full of contrivances that one like that would hardly be noticeable. After all, one would hardly notice a particular turd in a pigsty.

Sabo was basically a comfort blanket to soften the blow of losing Ace. Oda just went “Well one hot Luffy brother is dead but look, here’s another hot brother. Buy my merchandise dammit!”. His existence makes little sense.

Let us not forget that Sabo has about a 600 million beri bounty on his head, which in terms of notoriety, puts him on par with Yonko Commanders. Yet somehow, everyone who knew the bloke did not get the memo that the second most notorious active Revolutionary was in fact alive. Brilliant move Oda. Lel.

Gotta feel sorry for Luffy though. Ace’s death miraculously heals Sabo’s bullshit amnesia but Luffy’s near death is met with a resounding meh. :rolaugh:

Besides, as an Akainu fan I automatically prefer Ace. After all, Ace was kind enough to provide Papazuki the opportunity to create an iconic moment in the story. :absojustice::akaman::akasalt:

Yeah, Oda likes softening every and any death.

Inconsistencies are numerous, but it's impossible not to have them when he didn't know he'd build such a huge world. Haki is one of the prime examples, so I won't get mad over Sabo's bounty. Makes very little sense that Ace didn't hear of him, but alas.

So... You prefer Ace because he was magmafisted by Sakazuki? What a shallow reason to prefer Ace :catpole:

I am not someone who demands death in my entertainment. If an author never wants to kill any of their characters then as long as those characters flow into and out of the story naturally then that is fine.

Unfortunately, Oda wants to have his cake and eat it. He wants sad deaths and noble sacrifices but not actually kill off any characters, even those that have absolutely zero purpose after their initial supposed “demise” and by all rights, should not have been able to survive. This is why no one ever believes a character actually dies in One Piece unless we actually see them utterly brutalised on screen.

If one is going to kill someone, then one should do it properly. :absojustice:

An author can avoid inconsistencies if they either plan or just put enough thought into their story. Oda does neither. The Supernovas are proof of that.

Fear not. I might come to appreciate Sabo once Papazuki fists him too. :catpole:

The first fisting will always be the most iconic though. :akaman:

Sabo, I love his noble appearence, and that cool outfit with that hat as well. Ace was just like another pirate...so in those terms Sabo is better overall. While there are few things that you could call bad in Sabo - reason why he wasn't trying to save Ace, the fact that he actually play Ace replacement role. So if Sabo was introduced earlier in story it will be obvious that he will be better character than Ace, on my opinion.
