The real hypocrites literally drafted a blind man to lead the fight against pirates.
CDs are the lesser evil, the real evil that rampage the world are the damn Pirates

It's not like they can just decide to kill the CDs because they want to, the Marine to have that kind of power even CP-0 goons outrank them
Beside there plenty of evil royalities/nobles and evil pirates that just as bad but not as strong as the CDs so there no particular reason the oppose only them.

That's one of the main messages of the series:
Only because some people are using power to impose to the whole world that they are in the position of those who are defending justice, that doesn't necessarily mean that they are really defending justice, since the fact that they are in the position of power means that they can arbitrarily call "justice" whatever is in agreement with their personal interests, and then call evil and even demons the people who oppose their personal interests.
The same thing happens in real life. So it's important to only allow one's conscience to be guided by absolute moral values, concerning what is really absolutely good or evil in each different situation, regardless of what is being imposed by the most powerful people in a society through the use of force and intimidation as what people must recognize as good or evil.

Think thats the whole point of being a Soldier, u do some of the worst things ever to protect the rich motherfuckers, but they say to u its not to protect them, its for some abstract concept like freedom, fatherland, justice, democracy, etc, its a kind of brainwash.
