Character Discussion Akainu’s Thorough Justice is not Rob Lucci’s Dark Justice or even exactly Absolute Justice. The biggest misconception about Akainu.

Contrary to what people think, Akainu does not actually totally follow Absolute Justice, but rather his own brand called "Thorough Justice" (徹底的な正義, Tetteitekina Seigi).

Furthermore, people (@Erkan12) seem to get Thorough Justice confused with Dark Justice.

The One Piece wiki makes these distinctions in its opening on the topic:
https://onepiece.fandom.com/wiki/Justice

Dark Justice in practice:

Thorough Justice in practice:

We even see these ideologies clash on a few occasions:

Edit:
The amount of people who think Fujitora’s justice is “Blind Justice” (it’s not, it’s Moral Justice) or Akainu’s justice is “Absolute Justice” (it’s not, it’s Thorough Justice).

Like even big Youtubers like O’Hara, Grand Line Review, or Brago say Fujitora follows Blind Justice and as someone who’s an actual admiral-tard I just sit there dying of cringe.

Thoughts?

I say the world government don’t followed absolute justice. It has own secret agenda control the world.
‘Beside look at akainu actions -
Akainu order to blow up ohara ship. Not world government idea, even cp9 leader is shocked at akainu action.
‘This akainu actually argued with gorsei boss over doflimingo thing, could start the fight if not for random marine show up.

If Celestial Dragons tells L.akainu he should save pirates, he will.

His loyalty belongs to Celestial Dragons.

Which is why he is ok with Shichibukai Pirates existing (while Fujitora and Smoker is not ok), but at the same time he wants to kill other pirates because they are the enemies of the government, it has nothing to do with them being pirates. He also used even Squardo, he also told Luffy and Ace that every other pirates can escape but he won't let those two escape because they possess the greatest threat to government.

He wants to kill ''Dragon's son'', because Dragon is enemy of government, Dragon is not a pirate.

He killed civilians at Ohara, those civilians were not affiliated with any pirate, L.akainu was simply protecting his Celestial Dragon masters at Ohara.

Fujitora, Aokiji, or Kizaru would do it too. Because it’s their job that comes with being an admiral.

But that doesn’t mean they strictly view the government as good.

There’s a reason why CP0 doesn’t want the marines to know they’re trading with Wano.

Actually he is right.
It is world government dont follow Absolute Justice. Cp9 and cp0 confirmed how world government truly view justice.

If world government follow Absolute Justice, most world nobles would be killed or in jail.
The words written behind Akainu (his admiral slogan),do not say Absolute Justice

Was thinking exactly this in the thread about the admirals being evil, Akainu and Lucci have similar ideals but Lucci is pure evil and doesn’t mind being a dog. Akainu feels like what he’s doing is right and probably does care about the people it’s just in the face of pirates he’s ruthless in the same way Lucci is ruthless, difference being Lucci relishes in harming others.

At Ohara, L.akainu wasn't a L.admiral yet, he was a Vice-admiral just like Garp was.

He was not fully under the command of the Celestial Dragons yet at Ohara.

Yet, he killed civilians even as a Vice-admiral, to prove his absolute loyalty to the Celestial Dragons.

That proves even without being the direct subordinate of the Celestial Dragons (who are L.admirals, Garp didn't become one because of this) L.akainu still killed many civilians for them.

Lucci doesn't really care about justice, all he wants is to be allowed to kill without consequences.
While Akainu does believe in justice, he's just a complete fanatic that believes "evil" must be destroyed down its roots
Which makes me wonder why he was against the shichibukai system being removed. They are pirates after all.

Akainu legit murders the Ohara civilians over the chance an archeologist gets out. He is absolute justice, the sacrifices justifies the victory at the end of the day.
The slogan written behind him literally does not say Absolute Justice.

Oda literally did in an SBS. A fan asked Oda what Kizaru's brand on justice was and Oda revealed all the C3.

Akainu- Absolute Justice
Kizaru- Uncertain Justice
Aokiji- Lazy Justice

It's literally where the justice codes came from.
Then we can infer that thorough justice is derivative of absolute justice.

''Absolute justice sometimes drives a man insane''

L.akainu probably become insane due to his love for the Celestial Dragons.
Why did Blackbeard run away from vet level CP0 agents?
