I didn't *totally disproved* it, but I came up with a logical reasoning.
That Akainu had no substantial reason not to rest instead of charging again due the notion he had still suffered some moderate injury and Whitebeard was never portrayed like his primary goal at that time frame. Just like the notion the first Gura strike didn't incapacitate him at all, he almost no sold it.

The substantial reason he needed to rest was he was KO. Otherwise Akainu's personality does not allow him to rest if there is an enemy that attacked him. Kizaru or Aokiji maybe but Akainu is too hot headed for that. So Occam's Razor. The simplest explanation is that Akainu was KO and it is true until proven otherwise.
Haki does not mean will power. The term "Haki" is a word that has multiple meanings when translated into English. It can mean "ambition", "will power", "drive", "spirit", "vigor" and "aspiration" to name a few. The term itself, however, literally translates to "Supreme Qi".
Defintion of the word Qi: Literally meaning "vapor", "air", or "breath", the word qi is often translated as "vital energy", "vital force", "material energy", or simply as "energy". Qi is the central underlying principle in Chinese traditional medicine and in Chinese martial arts.
Haki is literally to ability manifest one's spirit energy into the physical form. So no haki isn't will
Akainu is as good as a navy gets to be
Has not shown even basic coc let alone advanced form and relies too much on his fruit so instead i would say he has the biggest pride rather than ambition (haki)
If i were to call who in the navy has the biggest ambition or haki i would say garp. He wouldn't budge to the extent of refusing to become an admiral but akainu not only does that but proved himself to be fully dedicated and resourceful to the wg
You can't have the strongest willpower when you submit to soneone and akainu already submitted to the wg so i think this is false
Biggest ambition in the series for me in order is:
Nika (a god whom just releases coc just by waking up so he is miles away from men)
Imu (current king of the world)
Rocks/teach (the one closest to become king of the world) and i theorised that teach is his will incarnated so they are the same
Roger (became pirate king and brought the pirate world to his knees by haki alone)
Kaido (the fact that he said i won't run away to an island sized fist of coc+coo by the god of this verse can tell everything about his will)
Whitebeard (was not a conquerer but had the biggest will in terms of protecting his fellow men)
Shanks (this one is a mystery to me and we need to see what is the reason behind his immense will)
You can't possibly think someone who is government's lapdog can have a bigger will or ambition than these guys
Akainu would be more of a DF user than Haki with awakened logia. He can have adv haki but at best it will be on a general level and not on the level of pure Haki users like roger/WB/Garp/Rocks/Shanks etc etc
In retrospective, this scene is so bs that I can't believe noone was shocked when it came out.
Shanks just assaulted WB crew (sons) in front of him and WB did nothing...he even drank with him...
It's like shanks went on the ship and conked everybody on the head with a club and then proceeded to damage the ship without any reaction from the captain...
