Imu, Akainu and Blackbeard are the only bad guys left that could defeat Gear 5 Luffy. Imu is for the end. Blackbeard isn't ready yet. Had trouble against Law. Probably needs a third DF to take out Shanks. Egghead will be over soon, and Elbaf won't be long either. Therefore Akainu will fall to Luffy while Teach grows in the backround. The Fleetadmiral is frustrated with his peaceful pencilpusher job, he wants to fight. He is also quite manipulative, remember Squard. He will lure Luffy to Marineford by putting on a public execution of people close to Luffy. My top guess is Barto.

If akainu is going to be the a relevant big bad against luffy then he needs to fall first. Pretty unlikely for luffy to have 2 big boss fight back to back in same arc.

Well, in this case I wonder what will the plot be?

Akainu can lose to Teach, I mean, they already have a purpose, to save Garp.

Or Akainu can also lose to Cross Guild or even the revos. He has more enemies than Luffy.

And does he really needs to die? Coby aint replacing him in the next months at least, he still needs to upgrade a lot more. And Kizaru, Greenbull or Fujitora aint taking the fleet admiral seat. Or maybe Fujitora, but imo he is weaker than Kizaru.

There will be no balance for the marines. So Akainu imo stays.

Akainu was pissed af during the ohara incident and also we don't even know what they have told him (and other marines) when the Buster Call was decided. Apparently even admirals and vegapunk are being mislead by the WG and we've seen enough examples of the gorosei pulling their shit without speaking things through with official FA Akainu.

Luffy can't beat Akainu and Imu after each other. He needs his fulls strength for both fights and each deserves their own arc.

The scar thing sets Luffy vs Akainu in stone. Even the Road to Laughtale Databook hinted at that strongly.

That’s the thing he is gonna settle on one while another big ally with deal with the other.
probably Luffy vs Imu and Sabo Vs Akainu. Luffy is not required to defeat every single villain especially if such battle will happen in Marineford style structure which is how such event will come about.

Akainu, Im(?)/1 Gorosie, Dragon, possibly Blackbeard are probably the only stronger character than Luffy rn, maybe some wildcards in ideal scenario.

Tbh three Major Fight would be too much no matter how I see it.

I mean Post time Skip parallels Pre time skip.

Arlong - Hordy
Crocodile - Doflamingo
Moria - Kaido

After this ,
It was Archaeology Arc ~ Egghead Arc
We are speculating a Fight , Usually this Small arcs never have a Major fight. No matter how much we cry for Luffy vs Kizaru or Zoro vs Kizaru.

Now as we have Cover a lot of Island and Oda wants to finish fast. I EXPECT strawhat to Split again.

Fight at multiple fronts.

Next arc Probably will Start the Marineford/Final War.
At best we have 2 Arcs that's it.
And major villains like Akainu , BB , imu need atleast 3 arcs. It's impossible to get done with 2 villain in one arc.

So I expect next arc to be going against WG , Marineford Parallel , Luffy fights Akainu here. Imu can be group effort like Moria.

And next as a final arc , BBP vs SHP race to Laugh tale.
