Ash lost in round 5, Ritchie in round 6...

In Pokemon silver conference Jotho league, Ash got into top 8, be honest if he didn´t faced Harrison in that round, Ash would easily reach the finals. And Harrison would easily win the league in the end because of his Blaziken...

To be fair the level in Indigo league was pretty average...

Maybe he could have, but if Ash had actually won that league, the series would have been over.

We wouldn’t have gotten 15+ seasons of him traveling through different regions, seeing new Pokémon, battling various Gym Leaders, and more.

Design quality is not just about art quality or style, but also how much a product resonates with user/viewer expectations.

But I would easily argue that the art is also inherently worse here, regardless of different style.

I mean maybe 10 year old kids have been enjoying that version of Ash, but a Pokémon veteran who spent 2 decades watching the series and abruptly saw their main character turned into a limp ectoplasm should not have been so happy...

You definitely have not watched a single episode of Journey's, because the new artstyle works. It's fluid and character expressions are so much better.

There is nothing terribly interesting about XY Ash. He looks like your typical shonen protagonist, with no heart put into the design. Do you only like it because it makes Ash look edgier/mature?
