Mega Carbominable is pretty terrifying
Yeah, that looks tough…are all the boss battles like that? I’m still leaning towards buying it in the immediate future, just trying to psych myself up for all the fights I gotta have so I can do my shiny hunting in peace :crybeard:

i have no idea who was able to successfully convince you that Legends ZA is either a bad game or one that is worth playing *only* when you have the time but seriously this game is really good, like really really good (I only have it slightly behind PLA because the OST for The Heartwood made me bawl like a baby when I heard it the first time in what's the predecessor of Eterna Forest). If you can get it, get it ASAP.

This game is the closest thing to emulating a 'real life' Pokemon battle (as in what you see in the anime) where the battles happen spontaneously in real time without being able to pause/think between turns. Controls are completely different from mainline Generation games (Sw/Sh, S/V, etc.) and similar to PLA where you can move around.

A massive pro in Z-A is that your pokemon of choice is around you 24/7 and ready to attack (wild pokemon or trainer) whenever instead of PLA where you had to throw your Pokemon's pokeball at the wild pokemon to be able to use it (aka you can actually have your pokemon defend you or take hits instead of having to use balms and other items to avoid getting blacked out, aka PTSD from the Final Arceus Battle where you could only use your pokemon to battle after dodging/surviving a certain pattern of attacks and dealing enough % damage threshold via balms). Of course, that means other trainers in Lumiose City have the same 'restrictions' and can battle you at any time, fortunately these are in 'battle zones' that are available at night hours (~8 min in real time).

Boss battles are inherently tougher because they are Mega Evolution but like I said above unlike PLA, you can actually have your Pokemon fight and defend you straight off the bat instead of being at the enemy's mercy, and you usually have 1-2 other trainers fighting with you. PLA was tough asf for me because all of my pokemon were slow asf and the game punished you for not being able to attack first (bless Ursaluna though for basically tanking everything and keeping afloat til the very end; and kinda fuck Decidueye for dying instantly almost every battle, ~250-300 times total which I have never hit with any other main team Pokemon in my life playing the games). But in Z-A, you don't have to deal with the PLA enemy bs of their Pokemon stringing together multiple consecutive attacks without being able to respond (if you had a slow pokemon) since the battles happen in real time and there are many intuitive ways to battle such as running around with your pokemon to dodge attacks, returning pokemon to their pokeball before it has to take a super effective hit, etc.

DLC has an interesting mechanic where wild pokemon in the new area can go up to Lv 200 (yeah lol) but in turn you can use Hoopa's powers via donuts to temporarily increase levels (also to Lv 200) within a certain time limit. I am not looking forward to the final trainer fight though since it's going to be the first in the series' history to have a full Lv 100 team that you have to beat, since I usually keep my main team deathless (only Feraligatr died 2x to 100% Zygarde because I forgot to send it back to its Pokemon during a guaranteed KO hit, and bunch of small ones such as Mega Gyarados)

Also the Shiny *sound* is back from PLA and is actually decently easy to shiny hunt compared to Sw/Sh

One personal downside for me is that in Z-A, you can't interact with your pokemon like you could with PLA (idle/base camp) and S/V (active) from pressing "A" , which is a bit twisted since X/Y (Amie) is the 1st game that allowed you to talk/play with your pokemon but I can understand since your Pokemon can be attacked wild pokemon/trainer's pokemon at any time but stil...

Yeah, I played it nonstop all weekend and I’ve been taking my Switch to work so I can play on my breaks (and a little bit at my desk)…the grinding required to get that Shiny Charm is fucking nuts, so I’m trying to rip through the story and then I’ll focus on completing all the tasks; the only shiny I’ve found naturally was an Ekans, I’d like to change that fairly soon :hapnoel:

I feel like I’ve done a dozen of these already, how many more must I suffer through?? I just got to Rank C, should I expect six more motherfucking fights?! :risitasad:

Honestly, I didn’t mean to pick the team I’ve been using, I just happened to go with my starter (also Feraligatr) and the first five I caught (Talonflame/Diggersby/Beedrill, who has been surprisingly versatile/Ampharos/Absol)…I spent a while grinding in Battle Zones, so other than fucking Barbaracle, I really haven’t had much trouble with any big fights :luuh:
