So finally, the Whitbeard vs Oden clash/fight has been animated and I'd assume all of you have already watched it. I'm sure that all of you have your own opinion about that fight (some people use it to overhype Oden and the other to downplay him, as always😔), but I'm not here to express my own opinion but rather to analyze the fight "as thoroughly as I can" and bring you the details that you've probably missed. So, whiteout further ado, let's get into it, shell we!!

  • Whitbeard used Ryou against Oden
Before we start, let's first establish one thing. Ryou has different colors, the color of Ryou depends on the user itself (I'd assume so). Here is an example of it...

As you can see, Luffy and Hyo have different colors: Luffy's ryou is red while Hyo's ryou is purple (not exactly but something close to purple). In the same way Oden's haki/Ryou has been depicted as orange (somewhat orange), while Whitbeard's Ryou/haki has been first time revealed to be green.

Whitbeard used his ryou to send a slash while Oden's CoO was good enough to avoid it. Whitbeard also used ryou every time he would need to to protect his blade from Oden's ryou or to attack against him; some examples below.






Whitbeard also used some sort of advanced CoC haki thing that created very strong shockwaves, so strong, that even Oden flew away.


In the final moment when Oden gathered his haki to attack, Whitbeard realized that in terms of physical strength and haki Oden is on par with him, so he decided to use his DF to make the difference.

During their clash there was a moment when Oden overpowered Whitbeard...

So Whitbeard added ryou to his DF to push back Oden.

Yes, without GURA WB probably would have missed out on extreme diff, I think that GURA is fundamental for him to be the WSM.

While KAIDO casually defeats a stronger version of ODEN with a casual strike.
AP kaido> WB exploding with force.

You are confusing things

WB used Koka when he clashed Roger...that's why the ryuo was powerful
You can use ryuo without hardening your weapons/arms

Hardening makes haki and attacks become much stronger

And yes
WB used Ryuo vs Oden in the anime, Gura was the difference
