Questions & Mysteries Anyone else think Oda is not great with fights?

I will probably get down votes but I wanted to see if anyone here agrees. Fights in One Piece do not seem very dynamic or overall, interesting to me. Obviously Oda's artwork is fantastic, and his choreography is fine. But it seems that his layout for every fight is "have the two characters whack the shit out of each other, then throw in a couple twists which determine the victor". There's never any strategy at play besides maybe one critical mechanic. Katakuri's future sight, cracker's biscuits. One major element that Luffy has to work around, once he does it's an easy victory.

Comparing this to other major shonen, the action just seems kinda...stale. Naruto had some amazing fights even all the way up to the Ninja war arc. Hunter x Hunter fights are also on a different level. Hisoka vs Chrollo. None of this is to say that One Piece is worse than those series. But the fights in One Piece have always been lackluster for me, and it's why I think of it as an adventure manga, not battle.

Its still entertaining me even if certain apeals are not existent. I know what ya all mean but we shall take One Piece for what it is. A story that slowly unfolds/uncovers.

Its also okay to not like every fight and have one or two favourite fights while the rest is comparably "bad". Everyone has preferences.

I hope people just have a civil discussion about it and don't use it to slander Oda as person/artist.

"But it seems that his layout for every fight is "have the two characters whack the shit out of each other", thats what fights are lol. Real fights are people whacking the shit out of each other, not people playing with magical powers trying to outsmart each other with "strategy" at every turn like they are playing a video game or a game of chess. HxH "fights" are barely fights, they are more like magic duels. If thats what you like then cool, but a lot of people prefer fights that actually feel like fights. Naruto has a good mix of both where it has amazing choreographed hand to hand combat and also a lot of strategy

He is pretty good when it comes to exciting clashes but sometimes they kinda lack when it comes to being organic and robust from a plot or consistency perspective
