Are Apoo and Hawkins failures?

One of the defining traits of the Supernova is their strong will and ambition, which motivates them to become stronger, but did Apoo and Hawkins fall short in this regard?

Luffy still has an indomitable will despite everything he went through.
Kid, Killer, Law, and Zoro have a will almost as strong as Luffy‘s
Drake was always a secret Marine and he never actually became a loyal dog to Kaido
Bege feigned loyalty to Big Mom so that he could attempt to assassinate her
Urouge had the balls to beat up one of BM’s SCs and has never allied with a Yonko
Bonney seems to be plotting against the WG and aiding the Revs.

However, Apoo gave up on trying to take down the Yonko after seeing their incredible strength some time during the TS and became a loyal member of Kaido’s crew. Hawkins instantly surrendered in front of Kaido instead of trying to fight him with Kid and Killer, and he also became a loyal BP afterwards.

Do these two not have a strong will like the rest of the Supernova?

I'd like to think Apoo was taking the slow route, climb in ranks and wait for the right time to strike or he could be total trash to be honest.

Hawkin just believe in the heart of the cards too much, right now if he reads the cards and sees that the alliance has a %60 chance of winning he will switch sides.

Pre-TS, Hawkins didn’t even care enough about Kizaru to look at him instead of his cards, but post-TS, he shits himself immediately in front of Kaido and surrenders.

I'd say so. Add in Bege there too. He has the ambition but not the power to follow up on being a semi-successful New World Pirate.

Those 3 are basically Shichibukai in the making. Give'em ten years and they'd all be sitting in Paradise with frozen bounties.
Bege in particular would be a perfect warlord given his tendencies of destroying pirate crews and organizations.

Most of the supernova though have been feeding off of what BB and Luffy did at the end of pre skip to be honest. And most of them continue to benefit directly from Luffy actions.
Whenever Luffy does something people wanna pass that one to them coz duh they are supernovas. It's the Mihawk leeching of Shanks effect all over again.
The Supernovas come off as more like Middle Generation(The Original Seven Warlords, Shanks, Kaido) than the Roger Generation where you had Whitebeard Shiki and Big Mom as Roger's rivals both in individual strength and Crew

Apoo, definitely. He’s a coward and a chump, although his musical DF powers are kinda cool.

Hawkins...the jury’s still out for me. You could call him chicken for taking the path of least resistance, but his predictive abilities make him naturally cautious. Just like Bege was playing the long game with Linlin, I don’t blame Hawkins for submitting to Kaido until such time that he could be part of a more solid plot to take him down. Looking forward to seeing him come back soon 🤞
