It is true that King's loyalty to Kaido took precedence over his old dream, however, now that Kaido is dead, what will he decide to do? Try to fulfill a dead man's dream he did not even believe in? Or will he finally feel free again to choose his own path?

If he comes back into the story, I can very well see him aiding Joy Boy, the man he & his people were waiting for, & helping him create the World that he wanted long ago.

However, I highly doubt he'd come back after Ryukogyu's attack. Plus I like the tragedy in his story, being loyal to his captain, the person who saved him, till the very end - even when he knew for a fact that he was on the losing side and to the point of actively going against his own dream.
