Mai is more like... Hrm. She's an antagonist, a supporting one, for a while. But she does have her moment where she isn't so bad. But I'd never say she's on the same page as the protagonists.

It definitely is like Jango Fett suddenly saying he's a good guy, after trying to kill Padme 50 million times.
