I thought I explained it in one of the games I played. Maybe it was the first one on olf.
The 3rd person to jump on a wagon is more often then not scum. It's bc scum don't want to be first bc it draws attention, they don't want to last bc their is more attention there as we. 3rd is kinda the goldilocks sweet spot.
(I will admit it's junk science and is wrong way more than it is accurate)
However in this scenario we have what is clearly a fake joke claim that many bit on so it may hold more water with regard to its accuracy.
