Alright, pretty solid and interesting character OniKaido. Really interesting development for him and best girl Pitou.

I still think Zuko takes it, no small part in that I know Zuko's journey from watching it.

You're missing out on a lot. Togashi has takes a lot of hiatuses but that doesn't diminish the greatness of HxH. There's a reason why the Chimera Ant arc is widely considered to be one of the best anime arcs of all time and that reason is Meruem. The development he went through rivals Zuko's. Though, the latter's is more memorable and better since it took the entirety of the story to wrap up while Meruem's was in one arc.

His art is also questionable too. I hear he redoes it later, but his newer releases are more like rough sketches.

If HxH ever finishes I'll go in on it fully, but I don't wanna get into a series that might never conclude. I won't be Beserk'd.

I don't know. I watched the 2011 version instead and it didn't. It ended after the second to last arc. It's the 2011 version that's really good. The animation, art style, music, etc. The voice acting in the Chimera Ant arc was especially impeccable.
