Well Knut is a main character in the sense that he is a major driver of the plot and is in a sense the antithesis of Thorfinn.

He's not a MC in the literal sense that the story revolves around him yes, but would argue a main antagonist qualifies since there wasn't made a distinction of being a main protagonist

ngl the production is absolute peak, I have yet to come across a better animated anime of that kind of genre (slow life seinen) with better soundtracks.

Wouldn't really call Canute the main antagonist/villain tho.

Askeladd fits the role better than Canute, and even he is arguably not the villain.

Winland is peak altogether. Has some weaker parts down the line tho.
