Kind of dumb to bring up recency bias, when there is also nostalgia bias as well.

I'm pretty sure some of these people like Yo Tan Wa for example haven't actual seen Frieren.
Saying Frieren is dull, basic, and boring, to me either points that the person never actual saw the series or the user really doesn't understand her character at all.

Sure, but recency bias is stronger, most kids won't be thinking of older animes, they will sure think of "the best anime of the year" though.
I've both read (up to Match's arc) and watched Frieren in entirety, and it's unfortunately hard carried by it's anime just like demon slayer.

Crunchyroll Awards are a joke, they are so heavily bias towards their own anime.
Not only that but many fans who vote during the CR awards are mainly casuals or new viewers who only watches action focused series or a series that is getting a lot of hype and is the talk of the town.
Reminder that the CR awards are the same ones that kept putting Demon Slayer into the best fantasy category, when everyone knows that Demon Slayer is not a fantasy.

Like I said previously, it's hard carried by it's anime, so backlash was deserved, and I wouldn't mind it winning anime of the year.
For solo Leveling, it's own mawha has better art, so I don't really know how it won.
Look back and Dandadan are pretty good. I've heard of apothecary diaries, haven't seen it so can't comment on it.

I've seen alot times in manga and manwha, where there is a mc or being outliving their loved ones repeatively. Sure Frieren is a lot more solid and throughout in this, but it's nothing too new.
Good manga with peaks in parts, amazing show, but not a groundbreaking character herself.
She's a very consistent character, but a immortal being, or a race that lives excpectionly long coming to appreciate the passage of time is basic development for said characters.[/QUOTE]
