Kizaruber Eats

what even is this series anymore?

My emotions right now lol:

Whoever else voted for Bobobobo is extremely Bobobobased and has my respect!

:finally::finally::finally::finally::finally:

In all seriousness, it's amazing that Yugioh's author Kazuki Takahashi did that panel and if you research it too, there's a really wholesome history behind it too! Similar to Kubo and Horikoshi interviewing each other or Kishimoto and Oda too and such.

Can you share the story please?
Out of context, I still don't really get why it is so important, as I haven't read the manga. I feel like "the panel" needs more description to it, because you lose a lot of context otherwise. The "manga cover"or "character/vehicle/whatever design" is more general and doesn't require prior knowledge.

Still grateful for the contest, so I am not complaining, more like thinking about how the entry is perceived. I mean, my own entry is a lot less interesting without the context as well, although the art is still good. But if I didn't read the manga, I'd be a lot less likely to vote for it.

Out of this bracket, the strongest contender for the win is the Climber, although it's arguably more of a double spread rather than a panel.

It's a just ridiculously funny and absurd panel lol. Who expected the actual Yami Yugi to appear out of a guys afro, a guy who looks like an anime version of Johnny bravo who loves disco too I guess lol.

The fact it was drawn by the actual author of yugioh makes it more awesome and also more bittersweet and poignant in hindsight as the author died a while ago, saving the life of someone else who was drowning at sea or something, a child I think too? He saved their life at the expense of his own IIRC?
So he literally died a hero in more ways than one too, as one of the most beloved manga authors ever and saving someone's life directly too ofc.

Idk what else to say, best manga panel could refer to it being a best panel for a multitude of possibilities, including sad, epic, horrifying, exciting, funny, detailed, simplistic, visionary, style, composition etc.

I was angry before that such a lighthearted and fun entry was going up against the edgiest, bleakest series here and losing to it too. Not surprising but still disappointing.
I'm really grateful it's been given a 2nd chance even though I don't think it will win.

The backstory behind this makes it even better.

I'm probably going to butcher this story a bit but I'm having trouble finding the original story, but the summary is apparently Yoshio Sawai (the mangaka for Bobobo) loved Yugioh, and him and Kazuki Takahashi met up and talked on some occasion(I forget if they were getting drinks or if they met through some other circumstance) and Yoshio was pitching him how he thought it'd be hilarious and awesome if Yugi would make an appearance by popping out of Bobobo's head to fight. Takahashi thought it sounded pretty funny and agreed to the idea and helped illustrate the page himself.

If anyone can link the source I'd appreciate it! Otherwise I'll try and dig it up myself.

Edit: Found it!
there was a note of it in the actual manga volume.
