i wish they explained how johan basically has a built in geass. it's been my major issue with him and apparently it's not super powers.

that and surviving a headshot twice is kinda... idk

i think johan benefits alot from the other characters around him in the story being giga goated, so when the story shows him cooking one of them it hypes him up much more as a result, but there is seldom explanation for how johan got there or how none saw him get out of there or how none of the people he talk no jutsu'ed didn't just say "no u" back to johan.

he doesn't own a car, he isn't seen in busses or trains. he just magically shows up where he needs to be in each city without explanation, and his followers don't rebel against him for no reason. i don't think most people IRL have this weak mental where you can tell them to kill themselves or kill X and they follow it blindlessly.

the show tries to make johan appear as though he is this charismatic monster or whatever but it ends up being giga forced and not making practical sense, aside from few examples like the time where he made a that kid want to jump from the bridge, that was pretty good. to sell his charisma, the show keeps introducing these weak mentally ill serial killers that johan can easily manipulate, but there is no explaination to how johan finds them and how they don't just kill him in the spot, or where they even come from. they are just there so he looks good.

i think a big part of why johan got so far is all of the people he's associated with from the past wanted to keep him alive to make him their leader. even when he kills half of them, the rest turn a blind eye to him. there r people that wud gladly work for him despite knowing they may die next and i find that convenient.

i liked roberto more as a villain in that show tbh, atleast there was traceable stuff in his doings and it didnt seem to randomly jump from 1 to another without explanation. he was terrifying and not in a forced way. it just made sense. i think neither he nor johan ultimately did have a good goal but not all villains need a good motive, some just want to kill which is fine.

Incredible charisma for starters.
> Monstrous, as mentioned in the manga. Reminiscent of Christ's.

Immense intelligence as well.

> Impeccable grades
> Learned English and French in less than 13 months
> Touted as being perfect at Latin, law, business, and actually at all forms of study
> Started and ran an underground bank used for money laundering when he was 15 years old

Immense charisma, amazing intelligence, the ability to accurately read people and place them in positions in which he can control them. That's how.

This was actually explained in the novel 'Monster: The Investigative Report'

How does one manipulate and control another person this way?
“It’s simple,” Mr. Lunge stated. He asked me where I was currently living. When I answered Vienna, he said, “Then, can you draw me an accurate map of the city, depicting every single road?” I wracked my brain to conjure up a mental map of Vienna, and began drawing a simple map on my notepad, as he intently watched my facial expressions. When I admitted defeat, saying that I could not possibly draw an accurate map, he took what I had written.
“What area of Vienna is this?” He asked.
I sheepishly said that it was the neighborhood I lived in, and he responded, “Then to you, this is the center of the city; no, the center of the world,” as he looked at me. “When you imagine the place called Vienna, you use your living space as a starting point, and think of roads and places as they relate to your location… And even when given an actual map of Vienna, you most likely see your neighborhood as the center."
When I nodded to show that I understood, he went on. "In the very center of your mind, just like this map, there lies the foundation of your ego – your identity.”
I nodded again.
“But suddenly, your coordinate axis is removed. There is no meaning to this center… there is a much more appropriate center for your heart. This is the reality of what we call brainwashing.” He smiled. “And when a human being’s mental axis is removed and they are lost, you gently and carefully entrap them with words, not giving them the opportunity to think, offering them a new place to live… You will find that human beings follow the instructions of whoever furnished them with this new home… They become surprisingly docile.”

I think that it is quite well explained throughout, but I'll try to keep it short, and yes it's definitely spoilers

So first of all Johan is the result of a secret military experiment where they were trying to create a super soldier by using methods such as handpicking brilliant individuals to create offspring, extensive training and education from a very young age, putting every other experiment kid against each other in FFA death match.. etc. etc.

While this sets the stage for his true background, obviously this isn't all there is to him. You claim that people aren't that weak minded IRL, but I think you're overlooking something very fundamental about people in general. Johan is a very intelligent person, he is very easy to talk to and has confidence, and on top of this is also quite good looking.
Now you can say whatever you want, but when you combine all of this in one person who has questionable intentions, and you have yourself someone who can manipulate more or less anyone to do even things that conflicts with their rationale.

As for how he chooses his targets and why, I can't say for certain, but just take real life cult leaders as an example; They often target people who are in a vulnerable situation like for example people experiencing a loss, drug addiction, rejection or whatever else it may be.
Like you have the ex detective who had the alcholism problem, you have the locksmith who had a criminal past, etc.
I think most of Johan's "victims" are vulnerable people, the kind of people you would expect also in real life to be more susceptible to being manipulated.

And it's not like Johan is everywhere at all times, it may feel like that, but that just goes to show how large his presence is. In a way you can compare it to Dio from JoJo, he's not physically always in the way of the protagonists, but he's always in one way or another tied to most of- if not all the struggles the Jostars face down the line.

So as far as I'm concerned, I don't think there's anything that really feels "unnatural" other than the fact that he's supposed to be an engineered "super human"
