Luffy vs Lucci for sure. You actually felt the grit in that one. The same for Luffy vs Crocodile, Zoro vs Mr. 1, Sanji vs Gin, and Luffy vs Arlong was fun too.
I think we need a fight from post timeskip that has that grittiness that pre timeskip had.
Luffy vs Lucci
Luffy vs Blueno (this just because the gear 2 introduction to me was super cool)
Sanji vs Jabura (diable jambe introduction also super cool)
Zoro, Luffy vs Kaido
What is your favorite One Piece fight from the Beginning part of the manga till the current arc.
My favorite fight is still Luffy vs Rob Lucci during the Enis Lobby arc. This fight had so much impact in the One Piece series. Pushing Luffy beyond his limits.
Second fight that comes close would be Luffy vs Katakuri. I loved the characterization of Katakuri, he was such an awesome character in fact best character and villain in WCI arc. But the fight can’t come close to the Lucci fight.
Same choices
Also the reason for the Rob still number 1 over Katakuri for me is the ending... I felt King Cobra vs Diced Mochi were not good enough attacks to end the fight with
Also the 10 min break before revealing the winner was kinda taking away from the fight...at least for me...
honestly this whole 10 min break of haki in gear 4th is so stupid in general, but whatever..
Luffy vs Lucci, hands down the best in emotion, protecting theme, and choreography and rivalry. Followed by Luffy vs Crocodile, having the theme of surpassing the strongest.
There's a continuity of story to me. So the fights that come now are good because they build on the things that made the fights of the past good. For example if I see Zoro use Asura it builds on vs Kaku to hold meaning
Pre timeskip: Luffy vs Lucci
Post timeskip: Luffy vs Katakuri
Both by a landslide. There is a lot of symbolism and some cool moments in other One Piece fights, but at the end of the day the fighting itself holds the most weight imo when judging a fight. These two fights are straight brawls, just look so clean both in the anime and manga.
