@Fujishiro , I hope we get more votes so you won't have 11:11:11:11 votes for 4 songs , but hypothetically, what are you going to do in case of tiebreakers?
Give those songs another chance to compete or flip a coin?))
I would RNG them.
It really is.

That's exactly what she says lol.

You can translate it as my sea as well.

However, here, more is used as a different word. Worries, nightmares, troubles.

So she says my troubles.

But more is also sea lol.

These were the ones I had in mind

This one as well but I felt it's not really an OST lol. The song wasn't written for the show.

Of course obligatory Death Note ones

Peacemaker's opening as well

Peacemakers opening was a banger.

Interesting! You're from Serbia, right? I didn't really think about it earlier, but I believe both Serbian and Ukrainian are a part of Slavic language family, so it's not a surprise that some of the words sound similar. Although in Ukrainian more is only a body of water, and you can also say more meaning "a lot" (because the sea is big lol).

The first one I never heard, and it's not exactly my cup of tea, but the rest are πŸ”₯πŸ”₯πŸ”₯

Death note OST is one of very few anime OSTs I would listen on repeat in my uni years. The feels!
Most of it is quite melancholic though, so I favour L's theme B for it's optimistic bit:
https://youtu.be/zj2qVKMjz-I?feature=shared

Still love Kira's theme the most. And their first OP is a banger.

As for the other 2, I believe if the music fits very well, you can still submit it! "Do I wanna know" was such a meaningful song for me. I remember listening to it a lot when I thought my love was unrequited (it was not and I am happy in that relationship for almost 4 years by now), and I still listen to it from time to time now.

I love Peaky Blinders OP song, if someone submitted it, I would def vote:
https://youtu.be/b8z4bWdRf2o?feature=shared
I don't care if it wasn't written for the show, it's just that good.

I was also thinking of OST from Miles Morales Spiderverse, but it really fits the best with the scenes, on its own it's just "okay", and I have a hard time choosing.
Compare this (you can only watch till she gets to the museum):

I mean, it's still the same composer, and the second option does have a strong visual sequence in the movie, but it's less cool without it?

Upd: lol it doesn't let me embed the videos b/c of the quote now?

Probably has the best OST in anime. All soundtracks are top tier.

That one is great as well.

Indeed. Alumina is great as well.

I never watched those animated Spidey movies but yeah I agree, the visual is needed for the better effect.

Most likely yes.

Gurenge from Lisa got me through some though times while listening to it so I couldnt not vote for her lol. Even though the Halo theme is a classic.
It's my first time listening to it, but I also couldn't not vote for her, she's amazing!

Correct. Yes they are. Interesting.
Yeah, I'm always fascinated by languages, their structures, and how one word travels from one language to another, and how similar languages end up being very different (I believe there's a whole meme thread about Slavic languages how the same word has absolutely different meanings in seemingly similar languages, say, sklep in Polish is a "shop", and in Ukrainian it's a "tomb", pozor in Czech is "attention" and in Russian it is "shame". The list is endless. Sometimes I think that if I didn't have to earn money and could do whatever I want, I would most likely go into linguistics and learn a lot of languages. I am kinda halfway there, but I'd love to learn more.

You're more than welcome :) and you've got quite a good taste in music, too, so I appreciate you sharing it.

Probably has the best OST in anime. All soundtracks are top tier.
Death Note was one of the first anime I've ever watched. Was so devastated when L died. And OST is one of the best indeed, and what's cool is that you can listen to it without watching anything and it still gets you. Thanks for reminding me how amazing it is!

Glad to hear it worked out.
Thank you.

That one is awesome as well, I agree.
Yeah, Peaky Blinders overall has a good music selection.

I never watched those animated Spidey movies but yeah I agree, the visual is needed for the better effect.
I don't really care for Spider-man that much, but back in 2018 I saw the trailer for the first Spiderverse movie and got interested in it. Didn't expect anything, went to a movie theater anyways.... it was a blast and I loved it so much. The second one is even cooler, but there's a cliffhanger ending to set up the last part of the trilogy, so if I were you, I'd probably wait till the last one to see if it's good and then watch the whole thing. The art is amazing, it indeed feels like an animated comic, the colours, the textures, the different world's distinct art styles, I just love it so much. And it is quite influential: Puss in Boots Last Wish and Mutant Ninja Turtles got a lot of inspiration from the first Miles Morales Spidey movie for their animation style. It reminded the animators that animation doesn't have to imitate LA as much as possible, it has its own strengths which make it so distinct and some things are indeed better suited for the animation.
I don't want to spoil you anything in case you end up watching it, but if you don't care/don't plan to watch it ever, I can show you a few clips I really liked.

Another example where I wouldn't care so much for the song itself, but love it as an OST would be this song in Arcane:

Guess this is one of the reasons why OPs are so prevalent here: 1) they are usually quite catchy and 2) they have matching visuals.

I also recommend listening to the Orb song from Round 1-C, the singer is from a japanese band called Sakanation that went on a break for 2 years. He made that song then while battling depression. Its very catchy and left a deep mark on me if you read the lyrics.

Also recommend listening to any Flow music lol.

Thanks for the recommendations! I actually voted for that Orb song :) I listen to all the entries, because one of the main reasons I'm here is to get exposed to new music I might like, and also to share mine.

It's funny that you mention that because I am a linguist lol. My major was English Language and Literature, but I've also studied French and Latin at uni levels, and can speak quite a few other languages as well. Phonology, phonetics, linguistics etc were all subjects at my uni. One of the subjects included learning Old Greek and Latin suffixes, prefixes, and affixes as well.

Dunno if you know or not, but English is the biggest borrower language. Most English words are borrowed from other languages, such as French, Latin, Greek, etc etc. There is even a Serbian word there. Actually, the entire world uses it lol. Vampire is originally a Serbian word, vampir.

Death note is obviously my top anime. That, Code Geass and Monster are my top 3. Haven't found anything yet that could even endanger their positions. I was always a bigger Light fan than L fan so him beating L finally was a big W.

Though, L is my second favourite character. And he is miles better than Mello and Near. Near is easily the worst out of all of them. Even Matt is better.

Absolutely, and it's an amazing show as well.

It's amazing on its own, but goes up a tier when you pair it up with the Arcane scene where it was played.

Oh really? Mate, you're living my dream :) do you also work as a linguist? What other languages do you speak?
I've had an interesting major, a mixture of English language & literature + Psychology, that major existed because our university would promote student exchange programs. Unfortunately, they had to cancel it with new education laws permitting only one major, so I got my bachelor's degree in this mixed major and my master's in Psych. No, I don't work as a psychologist, but it was interesting to learn all that stuff. As for languages, obviously, I speak English, and as a Ukrainian from the central part of the country, I speak both Ukrainian and Russian freely. I understand Polish quite well, but I can barely speak, and it's a surprisingly difficult language for me. I can also speak German, I used to have a better command of it earlier, somewhere between B2&C1, now I'm somewhere between B1&B2, but I still can hold a casual conversation. Couple years ago I started learning Spanish because I wanted to learn something outside Germanic family, and I quite liked it, too bad I had to stop due to my work. So I am A1 in Spanish at best, but I hope to continue learning this language some day. I would love to learn Japanese, but I've got only this much time :I

Vampir is Serbian? Didn't know that lol. And no wonder English borrows from everywhere, just like their British museum. In all seriousness, it is quite understandable given the exposure they had throughout the history of the British Empire and also closeness to Europe.

You're welcome :optimistic:

ahahaha, I should've known you'd root for Light, given your nickname and stuff. But yes, I agree, it was such a powerful and unexpected moment. Tbh I'd probably prefer older Light to go through character development and reflect on his own bad deeds rather than those idiot replacements. Matt probably is my fav of all of them, mostly because he has very little screentime, lol. It was very difficult to root for them. Just pretend the anime ends with L's death. Other than those "successors" I really really like Death Note.
Btw, I haven't watched Code Geass, I probably should. Heard a lot of good about it.

Absolutely, and it's an amazing show as well.
It is. I hope they deliver on their promise and make a movie as they wanted.

Thanks. I like Spidey but never gotten round to watching these. Perhaps in the future.
Ok, no spoilers then! You can indeed wait for the last bit to be released, because the wait after that cliffhanger is agonizing at times.

Arcane has awesome songs as well.
And amazing art. The plot I am sometimes not too fond of, but the art, the music, the characters, all of it made the ride quite enjoyable for me.

But this one is by far my favourite

Yes! This is a good example of a great OST that goes well w/o the visuals and the actual video enhances it a lot.

oh, that's a bit sad. Do you still get to use your knowledge and proficiency in languages?

English, Serbian, French, Latin quite well, Spanish, Italian, German to a degree, and I know bits of Russian, Japanese, Korean.
Damn, you're amazing! What's your favourite foreign language?

I adore the way Italian sounds, but I opted to learn Spanish because it's more popular and easier to find a teacher/group (plus I figured that I'd probably have easier time learning Italian in the future if I could speak Spanish). And even though a lot of people think I'm weird when I admit I like German, I don't care. Das war mein Traum seit Kindheit, diese wunderschoene Sprache zu lernen!

Interesting. We had psychology as a subject at my uni and it was fun. Nice. It's quite interesting to learn as many languages as you can and compare them. Believe it or not, I catch myself thinking in English instead of Serbian lol.
I constantly think and speak in English in my everyday life, even with those who I can speak in my mother tongue. I dunno, I watch/read/write so much in English, not to mention I use it daily at work, that I dream in English :milaugh:
and btw it's easier for me to write a story or an email in English than in any other language.
You probably use English in your everyday life a lot as well, so your thoughts end up being in English :BigW:

indeed it is. Lol. Absolutely. English was a vernacular language in England back then. The Aristocracy preferred to speak French.
One of my textbooks about the history of English language has an interesting quote "English died and was born again with every commoner's death and birth". Like you've got a good old stool and a fancy chair. I still think of it from time to time, how languages survive, evolve and how they become popular. English has to thank colonization, same as Portuguese, Spanish, and French.

Light is my top 1 anime/manga char lol.
I always said the ending should have been either Light beats L (like in the manga) and rules the world then, or L catches Light and stops him. We really did not need Near.
:holdw:
My top anime/manga character is Hiruma from Eyeschield21. Funny how both of us have WG nicknames dedicated to our favs!

As for DN storyline, unfortunately, the manga also has those three bleak L copies. I feel like the "happy ending" was forced on them. Literally should've ended manga with L dying and maybe have some distant epilogue with old man Light reflecting on his life, if they really wanted to push the "correct morale" ending.

Did you read Bakuman btw? It's a semi-biographical piece by the same duo, and they explore how mangakas, especially new ones, have little say in the way they want to shape their story. That's why I think the ending could've been forced on them.

It's an anime original but it's absolutely marvelous. Lelouch Lamperouge is the main character and the second part of my username lol.
How many episodes does it have?

I believe it's in the works. Can't wait for it.

I've yet to watch season 2... Been really busy and not in the mood to watch anything recently lol.
Whoops, then I spoiled you with that song clip a little, sorry. You'll still enjoy the episode once you watch it, so I hope you're not too mad about it.

It would be interesting.

Recently I really dig this one

:holdw:
Great choice for the song and AMV is quite well done. Didn't know that that manga had an anime btw! I still haven't caught up to that one though.

My all-time favourite AMW is this, love how the visuals match the lyrics.
I haven't watched any AMVs lately though, so I'll need to look for something new for the contest. Or some good oldies (remember that time when every Linkin Park song had a Naruto AMV?)
