Agree. It's much easier to read manga for me.
Heck I caught up to CSM yesterday by reading like 50 chapters in a few hours.
The first time I read CSM part 1 I binged read all 97 chapters in like 5 hours lol.
Yeah, I've binged CSM part 1 in less than a week, it's a quick read. Unlike Death Note, which is very wordy and sometimes requires re-reading a thing or two :)
How do you like CSM part 2 now that you've read it in a bulk, and not on a weekly basis?
I still think part 1 was better, but that Fami twist is delicious. It just feels that sometimes there are "fillers" compared to the previous part, i.e. plot lines which are not necessarily interesting and not really contributing to the plot (although I'm giving Fujimoto the benefit of the doubt, the guy can cook).
I believe it was pretty similar to Mirai Nikki
As his classmates celebrate their middle school graduation, troubled Mirai is mired in darkness. But his battle is just beginning when he receives some salvation from above in the form of an angel. Now Mirai is pitted against 12 other chosen humans in a battle in which the winner becomes the next god of the world. Mirai has an angel in his corner, but he may need to become a devil to survive.
yeah, basically Mirai Nikki plot with angels instead of diaries.
What's yours tho? And top 10 faves overall?
hmmm, that's a good question, I haven't thought of my faves lately.
I'll probably list them out of order, and there might be some recency bias, but let's see how it goes:
Hiruma & Sena from Eyeshield 21
L from DN
Senku from Dr Stone
Yami & Mereoleona from Black Clover
Grimmjow & Urahara & Yoruichi from Bleach
Sanji from OP
Okay, that's the first 10 I came up with, so let me stop here. Ofc I've got more faves, but I really need to remember mangas I've read first, lol. And it's often that I remember a manga, and there's a whole ton of characters I like! Like FMA has an amazing cast, really difficult to pick one character, I love them all - Alphonse, Edward, Winry, Roy, General Armstrong, Scar, it's very difficult to find a character I dislike there (even if I hate some villains for what they did, I still like their characters a lot).
I noticed that I have a character type I like the most. Usually, it's someone smart, strong in their way, quirky, with a certain honour code (like doing what's right even if it's against the rules or doesn't give you any benefits). Kind of a jerk with a heart of gold who can be sarcastic and tease their friends, but at the same time actually cares for them. When it comes to their emotional side, I'm a little torn. On one hand, I like impulsive and no-nonsense characters like Sanji, Grimmjow, Yami, and Mereoleona, on another hand I like it when the character can be more level-headed like L, Senku, Sena, and Urahara. Guess that's why I put Hiruma on the top, he can be both :)
As you could have noticed, I tend to like non-MC characters, as in shonen you often get a very specific type of MC which is always more or less the same. There are exceptions, but usually I find shonen MC less interesting then their friends and rivals. I also dislike this "chosen one" trope, which a lot of fantasy MCs embody, so while being gifted is a plus, hard work always makes the character more interesting to me.
What is your fav character type?
That's true. Pain arc was also pretty good. 4th Shinobi World War was pure hype tho, but had many bad moments. Still extremely enjoyable imo.
How could I forget Shikamaru! He's one of my all-time faves. His wife Temari is also amazing.
Naruto was my second manga btw :) it had its ups and downs but as far as I remember I mostly enjoyed it. Although the final war & asspull villain whose name I don't even remember were shite. And I was often annoyed with everyone's unhealthy obsession with Sasuke. So yeah, there were bad moments, but overall it was a good read and it still has a special place in my heart. Same with Bleach, I absolutely hated the Quincy arc, it went downhill after Fake Karakura Town arc, but I still remember it fondly.
That's true. That was a major headstart for L. He outsmarted Light there for sure. But that was a big advantage as well. L has a ton more experience after all.
Correct, but Light wanted the people to know it's not an accident or a weird thing, he wanted them to know there is someone doing that.
The Lind bit kicked it off. Light fell for a trap there. Kudos to L for that. But Light played the rest masterfully. Heck, L himself believed the chance of Light being Kira was a measly 5%, yet for some odd reason he insisted on it. He had no logical, concrete proof, which is why Light had outmaneuvered him.
Naomi was in shock and willing to do anything. She just lost her partner. Light knew how to prey on people and get what he wants.
They are close to that. But Light is smarter. Even the authors have graded them so
Now, the above images, I don't put too much stock into them. I can't recall if they are canon or not. But a good way to start at least.
They both had different advantages for sure. But in the battle of wits, Light won. And was smarter overall imo. Both of course clear Near and Mello for sure, no arguing that.
Yeah, Light won, but he still was on the edge when battling with L - which made the manga so interesting imo.
L was pretty sure Light is Kira btw, the authors said so in their "how to read" edition.
I'd say L got hit by idiot ball for the sake of plot: removing cameras/microphones was stupid, working with Light and his father knowing well that Light was Kira was also questionable. Near had a trusted team who believed him and helped him, L had people who continuously didn't listen to him and didn't believe Light is Kira. If L was a little smarter, he'd keep Soichiro and Light far away from Kira investigation or at least fed Light lies to make him slip. And more elaborate ones, not the 1500 agents kind.
Did Sherlock even investigate Moriarty with Moriarty? Nope :) I understand why it was important for the plot, but it was a very questionable decision.
