This was in Mihawks intro so it shows how Oda wanted to portray him right from the beginning.
The first thing is that Mihawk in the Raws says I will await you at the top of this throne of supreme might. There is no mention of swordsmanship or pure swordsmanship bullshit. It is just supreme might. An underlying theme of the arc is the difference between self made claims of strongest and actual strongest. Don Krieg was boasting himself as the strongest while he actually was not while Mihawk showed the difference in levels and then claimed it.

The second thing is that Mihawk says let your raging soul forge your blade and surpass this sword. Raging soul forging the blade is haki being used to forge a black blade. The fandom had no idea about forging black blades at the time so this would have been taken as just a figure of speech thing and never though of being taking literally (it probably is both).

I don't think Mihawk was referring to Black Blade, I think He was referring to what's Beyond that,
He didn't like say come Face me when you have a Blade like mine (Similar to when Itachi told Sasuke to get Eyes like his),
He told Zoro to Surpass Yoru!

So there might be something beyond Black Blade, maybe a Red Blade.
As for this "Warrior Soul", i think it's a Reference to Elbaph (Their God, not Island).

I have been saying this for years and years and people still dont get it.
And this is far superior to non-canon material like Vivre Cards, this is literally from the manga itself.

Mihawk sits atop of the throne of supreme might.

The reason why Blackbeard can eat more DFs is because of multiple souls... The soul might also be a key to black blade, aside from Haki...

Mihawk is not limited to ruling above swordsmen ALONE.

Frankly, after Roger, Xebec, and Shanks were confirmed as swordsman.
