Should Oda connect the Straw Hats backstories with the Blackbeard Pirate that they’re going to fight?

This is going to be one of the biggest moments of the manga, so should the Straw Hats have more reason to fight a specific BB pirate more than “to help our captain.”

Whether it somehow connects to their backstory, their dream, or their character I think Oda should find a way to connect each straw hat with a BB pirate.

For example we know Usopp vs Van Augur will happen, however, outside of being a sniper why?

Luffy vs Blackbeard has so many reasons to happen and so much build up, that it’s kinda rough that no other straw hat has that kind of connection with one of their major EOS enemies

First I like Vasco vibes the guy seems crazy af, big, drunk etc.
Also Vasco was hyped in a vive card to be one of the most dangerous level 6 inmate even compared to other level 6 guys. So power wise Vacso seems to be in the upper tier of the BB crew.
Then I read somewhere that he liked a lot a cooking Chinese wine that has a weird taste.

See and to me, he seems like a Nami opponent, Nami is the strongest drinker of the crew after all and I’m pretty sure Vascos lower level of BB crew, the level 6 prisoners dont seem as strong as the original crew members imo.

i think the original crew will b strong but I don’t think there will all be the strongest. Shiryu will likely be the strongest and Doc Q will likely fight Chopper and Ussop Van augur. And both won’t be stronger than Jimbe and Franky and maybe Yamato if she joins.

I think Sanji can fight Vasco, Laffite or Pizzaro. I don’t see him fighting the rest.

I’ve seen Sanji vs Burgess a bit, it is interesting that Burgess’ belt he always wears has an Eagle similar to the germa throne room

Highly depends. Some can have connections. Some won't.

It's like Sanji having personal beef with Absalom or Zoro being super connected to Ryuuma. It's circumstantial. This is why I think Sanji and Queen are fighting. Perfect way to counter the raid suit and have Queen explain Sanjis genetics (which is where I think the fire power truly comes from)

My take:

Usopp vs Van Augur two snipers fighting from far appart while supporting their crews from that distance, trying to take control of the battlield by their support.

Nami vs Laffitte - Navigators. She could potentially fight in a tag team with Jinbei vs Laffitte (Navigator) and Burgess (Helmsman like Jinbei) in their fleets.
Franky vs Sanjuan Wolf - called the Colossal Battleship, could be a reason for a possible set up, besided his size changing ability.
Robin vs Catarina Devon
Chopper vs Doc Q
Vinsmoke Sanji vs Avalo Pizarro - Corrupt King, former North Blue rulers.

For other matches would wait who the 10th Titanic Captain is and if anyone else join the two crews. We have Shiryu, Vasco Shot maybe he fights Brook and the unknown 10th Commander.
BB has 10 of them, Luffy has 9 meaning someone else might join SH. Or Grand Fleet/Supernova help SH out. GF for sure considering BB has 10 fleets, just a matter of who takes on the 10th Commander.

Sanji vs Avalo Pizarro. Sanji's portrayed as kind and he detests thoughtless and inconsiderate nobles and royalty (like Germa) which is what Avalo Pizarro, the corrupt king, is. Both are from North Blue as well. Those are only main reasons. Minor stuff like Sanji being a chef that's willing to feed all while Pizarro is selfish and gluttonous is also there. Jesus is a possible match-up for Sanji if he gets a strong fruit. Jesus could also be Franky's opponent.

Zoro vs Shiryu. Both Swordsman and there ain't many other options for either if they don't fight (perhaps Zoro can take on someone else but who's facing Shiryu, the invisible swordsman?)

Chopper vs Doc Q maybe. Catarina Devon vs Nami and/or Robin since she despises beautiful women and woman vs woman fight seems like the most predictable route, atleast as far as Straw Hat major arc opponents go. Maybe Brook vs Vasco Shot and Jimbei vs San Juan Wolf (dude's huge and Jimbei has experience fighting giant creatures though Wadatsumi was much smaller than San Juan Wolf).

Brooke vs Laffite - They just so damn similar to me. Tap dancer vs musician, sword vs cane, lowkey my most anticipated fight of these
Chopper vs Doc Q - Doctor battle lol
Nami vs Catrina Devon - Nami fights the girl
Carrot or Yamato vs Vasco Shot - really the only one I couldn't get a clear matchup for. (see Jinbei)

Robin vs Aokiji off to the side. Aokiji and Robin have their final confrontation. I Think this is why Oda had Kuzan connect with the BB pirates. As insurance that if the SH's did fight and lose to the BB pirates he'd be able to take her out before BB could force her to divulge poneglyh knowledge. Something along those lines. Prolly wont REALLY fight, more of a skirmish and a debate about having faith in her crew and Luffy type thing.
