I propose a strange idea that the Darkness Fruit may have a potential to spawn Void Creatures.
First, I will suggest that "Nothingness" goes by different names. It may also be regarded as The Abyss or as The Void. This is a way to describe the "Nothingness" that had existed before the creation of the universe.
Second, it must be assumed that Blackbeard's power doesn't come from himself directly, but instead originates from a separate dimension entirely. It's important to note that this dimension may lack "dimension" entirely due to it consisting of "nothingness."
Third, fantastical beasts may still exist in a dimension with nothing in it. They are most commonly known as Void Creatures. What is a Void Creature? Void Creatures have no soul -that can be observed, anyway- and are simply a somehow sentient amalgamation of colossal amounts of magic energy (the rules are flexible when it comes to fantastic beasts).
Final Thoughts: Void Creatures are common throughout science fiction stories in high fantasy where it concerns elements of darkness. It would not be very surprising to me if Blackbeard reveals he can literally shit out Nine Tailed Beasts from his Dark Hole.
