So we know that Blackbeard is after something. This something has to do with the current news. And whatever this something is, it is something the marines also want. So what could BB be after?
I personally believe that it is Sabo. We know that something must have happened to Sabo. We wouldn't see Dadan crying if it didn't. So what could have happened? I think Oda is obviously trying to fool us with the death. Someone probably did die at Reverie, but I doubt this someone was Sabo. For obvious reasons, I don't think Sabo would be off-screened, and if he were, I think Oda would flat out tell us instead of teasing us.
Rather, what makes more sense is that the marines captured Sabo and he is set to be executed. This would elicit the same response from Makino and Dadan while at the same time not destroying the tension created by this chapter. I believe that this is the case and that Blackbeard is planning on invading impel down and stealing Sabo in order to get his hands on the mera mera no mi as well as incite a war with Dragon and steal his(and the revolutionaries) fruits as well.
Why? because ever since dressrosa, Dragon vs Blackbeard has repetitively been teased over and over again.
First it started simple. Sabo beat burgess in the colosseum. Then Sabo fought Burgess again to keep him away from Luffy. Then Burgess snuck onto Sabo's ship and exposed the location of baltigo, leading to Blackbeard invading it and Dragon having to relocate to Ivankov's island. Then finally, the revolutionary commanders defeated Pinkbeard.
There have been too many clashes for this to be a simple coincidence or a case of "plot". This is clear build up to something. I think it is very likely that after wano, another war could follow that is just if not more impactful. One in which Luffy, Dragon, Blackbeard, Akainu, and likely Shanks as well all go to war.
