The difference is that they died by completely unconditional methods, meanwhile shinigamis like Yamamoto were killed simply because they got cut in half.
There are levels of immortality. There is immortality when they don't die when their physical body is destroyed. So they need to be destroyed on several planes of existence. Saint Seiya has lots of these characters.

detect? Yes. Hurt? That's debatable they don't have physical bodies like a humans do but spiritual bodies. Can one piece characters damage souls and spirits with haki? Brook and big mom are probably the only people in that series that I can think of that can damage a shinigami since both of their powers are soul related.
So before he mechanized his island and stuff? Well thats not a big nerf for Big Daddy Saran since his island being heavily fortified just increases his boredom. With his Wazemono blade "Adonis" I doubt anyone below Captain level will keep up, and alongside his Devil Fruit the Awakened Indron Indron No Mi, he can turn into lightning, put lightning in his blade, strike down people by summoning lightning, it'd be a OP version of Enel, who knows all three advanced haki types, that is not to mention the fact he has Big Mom's toughness gene factor as well. He should clear everyone Captain level at least till like the TYBW arc. The biggest issue would be Ywach, if not for him I'd be 99% sure he solos.

You said that my Mr. Frog thread was spiteful but if I really wanted to be mean, I would have created a Vs scenario in which the Interim Coalition of Governance from Xelee Sequence invades the Bleach verse.
Imagine an army of regular humans decimating those fraud arse "Immortals" cause the average infantryman is armed with a rifle explicitly stated to fire bullets with the Attack Potency of the Big Bang. That's the lower end of bullshit from Xelee Sequence.
I suppose these "universal" Bleach characters should be able to handle a galaxy spanning army of trillions all shooting Big Bang bullets in every direction, amirite?

Damn, it reminds me of the fuckery which low level Dark Tower fodders are capable to do as well. Either of those easily neg the entire HST verse lol. And with each layer, they get even more ridiculous. Imma be honest, I cannot even truly grasp at the sheer absurdity to how broken they can be. The Dark Tower Cosmology is one of the strongest ones I've ever read.
