With God Valley, it just makes no sense for him not to at least have a name and rank reveal. It would be one thing if he were just an Easter egg background character. But God Valley was the marineford war of the Roger Era.
Sengoku, Tsuru, and Kong weren’t there, but Bogard was.
What’s more, the character legitimately has potential for future relevance as he could be part of the effort to save Garp, he could train Sword members/young marines(especially Tashigi), and he could serve as a hype tool for Shiryu or other BBP.
I think when far less important characters have gotten name/rank reveals, Garp’s rhm at least deserves it.
Imo Bogard fights and defeats Captain John. This would serve to establish him as a strong character, and not a fodder marine. That way Oda can effectively use him as a hype tool and also as Tashigi’s master.
