Don’t get me wrong, I do think the flashback is important and I’m interested and happy that Brook is getting his spotlight.
But there’s a reason why I think it didn’t have to come now, because it won’t necessarily tie into the conclusion of Elbaf conflict necessarily.
There’s also a reason why I don’t think Gunko’s storyline ends here, I believe that Luffy will ask Loki to free Gunko, but what will happen is that while she will momentarily regain her OG personality, it will soon be overwritten by Gunko’s persona and will go back to Imu, because I believe Gunko is Brook’s end of series opponent and freeing her will be his final war motivation alongside meeting Laboon.
And I also believe Laboon will play a key role in their battle where once Brook saves Gunko and she passes on, he’ll reunite with Laboon achieving his goal in the series and concluding his life story.
