Powers & Abilities Can strong enough conqueror's haki block the darkness fruit's abilities?

The darkness fruit can negate other fruits, but can strong enough conqueror's haki negate the darkness fruit, letting the haki user use their fruit freely?

Supposedly, you should be able to cancel out the Darkness Fruit's power nullification with strong Haki. That is the way it was stated to work. But, I don't know if it's actually as simple as that, in Blackbeard's case.

For one thing, are we 100% certain that the power nullification is actually part of Blackbeard's Devil Fruit abilities? I think Blackbeard stated that it was, probably during the fight with Ace. But Oda could add a twist to this. Blackbeard could have just been lying.

Maybe the power nullification is actually more of a "technique" that you can learn, instead of a Devil Fruit power? Maybe it's something Blackbeard learned while studying history?

Maybe Oda will retcon it into being a ability that Blackbeard has due to his "special body"? Maybe Blackbeard's "race" just naturally has the ability to cancel out Devil Fruit powers. Kind of like how Lunarians can control the fire they produce.

Maybe the Darkness Fruit isn't actually "technically" a Devil Fruit like the others, and it's something different, just like Blackbeard himself is? Maybe it's more related to whatever the Gorosei are? Which means, it might not follow the same "rules" as other Devil Fruits, and Haki may have no effect on it.

There's a lot of ways Oda could twist this, if he really wanted to. We'll see if he does or not.

But, even if the Darkness Fruit itself is just a "normal" Devil Fruit with no special exceptions built into it., we have some strong hints that Blackbeard has something else special going on. His different "personalities".

It's long been speculated that Blackbeard has different "personalities" that explain his erratic behavior at times. A "cowardly" personality. A "fun-loving" personality. And a "scheming" personality. At least, that's what's commonly speculated.

In order to cancel out a Devil Fruit's powers, you have to overwhelm the user with stronger Haki. Here's the thing. What if all of Blackbeard's different "personalities" all have Conqueror's Haki?

Let's just assume for a moment that Blackbeard does have three "souls" inside his body. That means that ONE person has to overwhelm the combined Conqueror's Haki of THREE people in one. That one person would have to have the Haki equivalent of FOUR people or more, in order to cancel out Blackbeard's nullification powers. That's a lot of Haki!

And Blackbeard's no weakling. One of Blackbeard's "personalities" is probably weaker than Shanks' Haki at it's strongest. But Blackbeard probably couldn't be knocked out by Shanks, by this point in the story, just for dramatic reasons. One of Blackbeard's souls alone is probably weaker than Shanks, but it's not THAT much weaker. And if Blackbeard COMBINES all of his "personalities" total Haki, I personally expect it to be stronger than Shanks' Haki.

Or Blackbeard just switches "personalities" in the middle of being out-powered. So, you have to basically pull off a Haki marathon of cancelling out his Devil Fruit three times in a row to make it actually work.

Either way, it's probably almost impossible to actually cancel out Blackbeard's Devil Fruit powers by yourself. If only due to dramatic storytelling reasons.

Now, we don't know for sure if any of this is actually how it works. We actually don't have any firm proof that Blackbeard even has multiple "personalities". But, there's enough clues and hints here and there that it MIGHT be how it works. All we can do right now is just speculate.

So, you probably CAN overwhelm Blackbeard's Fruit with Haki, but you're going to have to do something special in order to pull it off, probably.

Either you need one person with a MONSTEROUSLY sized Haki reserve (and Luffy might get there by the end of the story).

Or, more likely, you're going to have to get several strong Haki users to work together to cancel out his powers. Because this is a Shonen manga. And having ALL the Strawhats and their allies work together to topple Blackbeard would be a really cool moment.

Just have all the Strawhats hold different parts of Blackbeard's body to keep him in place and cancel out his powers so Luffy can throw the winning punch. Like Goku holding Raditz still so Piccolo can take his shot. I can see that being how Blackbeard is eventually taken down.

Well, strong enough Haki allows you to touch Logias in their supposedly otherwise intangible elemental forms. (c597). The Three Admirals seemed to be able to nullify the effects of Whitebeard's Quake Fruit by using their Haki together. (c564). And it can reverse the effects of many Devil Fruits, like Law being able to change himself back to normal after being changed by Doc Q. (c1063). Kaido and Big Mom were able to just ignore Law's Ope-Ope Fruit with their Haki, and weren't able to be teleported around against their will. (c1009) And we just saw Joyboy's powerful Haki Knot Blast knock the Gorosei out of their "Zoan" forms (c1122). From all we've seen, if your will is strong enough compared to your enemy, you can pretty much shrug off most Devil Fruit powers.

"Negate" might be the wrong word, I'll admit. It's not like Blackbeard's ability that does take away Devil Fruit powers and makes the user unable to even use them. It's just that Haki is able to overwhelm Devil Fruits and reverse their effects.

For a ability like Blackbeard's power nullification, Haki should work, if we're assuming it's a Devil Fruit effect that's changing the opponent's body. If your will is strong enough, you should be able to change it back. I just think Blackbeard will probably be a special case.
