Can't wait to see how Luffy comes to terms with quitting trying to be pirate king and captain in order to fulfill his role as the guardian deity of the Sun, since it sounds too important of a role for him to ignore after all.

I remember reading the japanese version. Hyogoro said,
明王
Myou ou: wisdom king
Literal meaning of kanji is

明: bright/light
王: king

So it's fit perfectly for luffy becoming sun god

Edit: hyogoro doesnt said "mamori kami" like when yasuie expecting scabbard or kaido expecting the makami fruit
