Oda did not have Moria rescued by his adoptive Goth daughter whom stayed with Mihawk for two years in the form of Perona only for Moria to never be relevant again/not join Crossguild. Like, I am just gonna be real with you all. If ANYBODY joins Crossguild? it is him.

If Oda had no more plans for him at all? First of all, he would have just let Doffy kill him. Or Blackbeard. It is actively weird from a in-story perspective that Moria even still lives and did not have his fruit stolen.

If Moria is not joining Crossguild, why would Oda jump through so many hoops to keep him alive at all cost? And do not give me "muh Oda never kills!" when he LITERALLY did just that with Absalom and gave Moria a great moment of comradery and frankly bravery via having him show up SOLO to Blackbeard's territory to get him back.

He also fits a simple role as a good way to buff the fodder/add some more numbers to Crossguild via zombies and shadow buffs in general. Even if he did not slim down and gets a moral boost when hearing Kaido is dead like I suspect? Moria is not as weak as some people act. He has potential to be YC3 level or so. He easily folds a guy with dogshit battle IQ like Jack even if he is still out of shape in my mind.

Plus, to all the legit Buggy-stans out there? Moria is perhaps the ONLY way we ever get to see a competent Buggy if he infuses him with the shadow of somebody powerful.

Oda loves his structures. It's why all Yonko crews have a strongest, second strongest and third strongest. It's probably going to be the same with the holy knights, which Banks having a second strongest who will fight Zoro.

Mihawk is already a huge deviation from Oda's structure and even then luffy vs buggy in some kind of competition instead of fight makes sense from a character standpoint, leaving the structure similar if we ignore those two. Mihawk is the strongest, Croc and then we'll need someone weaker than Croc.

in Alabasta, yeah he was weak. his willpower was at his lowest point and he probably was so depressed and forgetting his ambitions that he lost his haki. In a cover story Miss Golden Week helps him rediscover that he dreamed of being Pirate King and after that in Impel Down and Marineford he's scaled quite strong. He even attacks Akainu while he's made of lava and doesn't melt into glass, which implies he has rediscovered haki by that point.

He's always been a very powerful devil fruit user as well. I wouldn't comfortably scale Crocodile below any of the other logias right now, really. He is probably "admiral level" now, like you guys like to say.

i think Buggy can be extremely powerful with only very minor powerups. If he awakens he's literally just Sukuna with Malevolent Shrine and everything in an AOE around him gets effortlessly and instantly shredded. If he develops any kind of haki his defense skyrockets because he can then block blunt attacks on top of being fully immune to all slashes haki or not. Now that he gave that "we're going to get the one piece, i want to be king of the pirates" speech, he's PROBABLY going to end up having Conquerors Haki. Remember that Mihawk line about Luffy's greatest power being that he draws people towards him to be his allies? Now Mihawk is working for Buggy and Buggy has the largest pirate crew in the world.

regardless, even after Wano ranks Law and Kid above Croc bounty wise despite putting Mihawk above both as well.

Croc is strong, but I don't think Oda would ever but Law or Kid below him in a crew
