But I think the devil which was fighting is not the real Denji, still, or even more.
It seems like the identity-devil. A devil which represents the fear of losing himself or gets his identity stolen or something like that. Which means the other person is not the real Chainsaw-Man, but something which recreates everything he is and he things, his memories and everything for some point.
I think so, because of the scene where the other person comes.
You all read it as: „I still need you to fight, chainsawman.“, as if the character names the person on the ground chainsawman.
But I have read it more as:
„But I still need you to fight chainsawman!“
as if the person needs the devil on the ground to fight chainsawman.
Maybe someone came to the conclusion, the only way tl fight chainsawman is to fight him with chainsawman.
