Character Discussion Characters you used to hate but like now ?

And what made you change your opinion on them?

For me, Shanks used to be a character I disliked and thought was just another generic guy and didn't see the appeal of his character, but upon recently watching some old eps I changed my mind on him, and tbh him being in contact with the gorosei make his character more interesting than the good uncle image he had before, I also think there is more to his character than what we had seen and it make me look forward to see what his role will be in the story later

Another character, is Bellamy
He had started as some annoying jerk back when he was introduced but seeing his development in Dressrosa I liked him and how he was written, he was more interesting than most doffy family anyway

I used to LOATHE him i hated everything about him
His arc his design his personality
I never thought he was funny

The water 7 and ennis lobby arcs changed my opinion of him completely
That’s when I started to appreciate the complexity of his character
Now he’s my 2nd or my favorite strawhat


The second one is buggy
Again I never thought he was funny
I always thought he was obnoxious

Imple down is when everything changes for me
Now i love him
The oden flashback made me love him even more
His character is more than just a gag
And I love how someone as weak as him has connections and interactions with some of the strongest characters in the world

Probably Akainu. Kinda hated the dude for what he did at Marineford and was glad he got hit by a few of those quake punches (I still enjoy his clash with Whitebeard) but now, I appreciate his determination in hunting down Pirates though I'm still more of a fan of Aokiji.

Bellamy. I didn't care for the guy in Dressrosa (though I always kinda liked Jaya Bellamy for his 'realism' and arrogance). Reading the guy's whole story, he was a pretty tragic character, getting in closer with the Doflamingo family (that he respected the strength of) but never really being accepted into their ranks then seeing Luffy again and realising the mistakes he made in admiring a guy like Doflamingo when people like Luffy exist but due to his pride, being incapable of asking for forgiveness immediately after all he's done so instead he forces Luffy to give him a beat-down so he can atone. Even now the guy distanced himself from piracy and is working as a dyer which makes sense given his experience with piracy.

Ace. He was legit one of my favourite characters until MF. I refused to read his novel until recently and now understood why he did what he did

Yes I despised him a bit during the times of Luffy v Bellamy but he gained so many points on Marineford.
