King and Kuma are both the last descendants of their respective race
King- comes Descended from the Lunarians a race of black winged, white haired, dark skinned sky people who once lived atop of the red line where marijose is now this race is known for the ability to be nigh invulnerable so long as they flame on their back is on
Kuma- comes descended from a race known has the buccaneers whose notable features include their chisled jaws and massive size, best known for being able to take a ton of damage (though another power was hinted at in the latest chapter)
The lunarians and the buccaneers where hunted to near extinction by the world government the last descendents of said races became experimentations by the world government
Now with this information I believe I know exactly what happened 800 years ago the buccaneers and Lunarians fought on two different sides of the war
The buccaneers who are known to worship sun God Nika and by extension be tied to the sun likely allied themselves with Joyboy who was the Nika of that time period
However the lunarians which is a combination of the words Lunar and Avian basically meaning moon-bird and rhe other sky races are tied to the sky and moon
I believe the 20 kingdoms teamed up with the lunarians and they fought together against the ancient kingdom
Once it was said and done and the ancient kingdom was crushed
The world government betrayed the lunarians and eradicated them a few survived and escaped but eventually the numbers dwindled down to just king
The wg was able to use the beef between people who worshipped the sun and people to worshipped the moon against each other
