I have seen many people now saying things like these after analysing Imu's speech pattern.
Imu could indeed be a shonen which would do the demographic, chosen by Oda, justice.

Right now we can only go by demographics and speculative aspects.

Imu being a girl or woman is not off the table yet, but that would be a theory that could slightly bend the demographic here.
