Thinking about the connection between Luffy and Joyboy , and who are the D people?
Well it is obvious that Joyboy must have been a D. but I think he was the first pirate (or adventurer), if i assume he was someone like Oden , who was supposed to be the next head of his country (the ancient Kingdom), but since he likes adventures like Luffy or Oden he went out to sea , gathered a crew with dreams and just like Luffy he made friends easily and wanted to help them against justice, even he went and maybe caused the fall of countries to help his friends, but since he was a royal those who feared him gathered and took revenge against him and his country.
The D people doesn't have to be from his country but basically his crew maybe it was called the rising sun and their symbol was the sun , or maybe the half of it (sunrise, dawn) but at the end all of them were prosecuted, so he has to dissolve his crew , and they used their symbol in their name as a hidden symbol , and again Marchal D. Teach ancestor was part of the crew but he apparently betray them and cause the downfall of crew and Joyboy's country and its royals.
