Speculations Could Oda introduce a way to permanently kill DF souls?

The power of Nika resides within a DF. This DF is immortal and if you kill the user, the DF will just reincarnate until a new Nika emerges in the future.

The world exists in a pattern of cycles. Every time Nika appears the world is destroyed and the cycle begins anew. This time is the final cycle as this is the time Nika will finally win.

Hence in order to increase the stakes, it is very likely Oda will introduce a way to permanently kill DF souls. Either by the yami yami no mi, Imu, or some form of technology.

In any case, if Oda introduces a way for DFs to die, this would not only make it to where Nika can permanently die. It could also make it to where other immortal powers can also die. The yami yami no mi, the gorosei, and Imu himself.

Ultimately, a DF killer would be the weapon that ends the cycle. My guess is Vegapunk or Franky could create it. But Teach/Imu are equally likely to create such a weapon.

Probably a devil fruit cannot be killed off because of how natural it is how once the host dies the fruit is back on a different place of the world

and history dates back hundreds of years so fruits have always been around, conclusion is probably that it’s impossible for that to be done hence why even the WG (elders) search and seize but never think about nullifying a fruit from existence.

I think that Stormlight route is too much for Oda.

The Nika lore does remind me of stormlight lol.

Ultimately I think basic storytelling would mandate that Oda should create an all or nothing paradigm in the final war where Nika either has the possibility of winning or being destroyed, with the Nika cycle ending with Luffy.

That would maximize tension. That said I suppose there are multiple ways Oda could go about it.

one possibility is Imu could just threaten to Nuke earth and go to a different planet. That would be the ultimate ticking time bomb. I suppose that would also bypass the question of “what if Nika is just reborn after Luffy dies”.

The best way to remove a fruit from existence was invented by Vegapunk when he learnt how to give it to objects, give a fruit to a diamond and then conceal it. That's probably why they wanted to get the Nika fruit

If it could've been done, I think Imu and Gorosei would've done it already.

I don't discount the possibility, but it should be something unknown to Imu at least.

It shouldn't be a standard ability of darkness DF either, since otherwise that information should've been known already.
It's possible Blackbeard is a genius and figures it out for the first time ever, but let's see.

Can devil fruits be harmed like burned to crisp and ashes or are they invincible?

I’d say they’re invincible and impossible to harm so they’re unable to be destroyed , which would transition to DF’s having no ending at all.

Though we never know anything about this tbh , even the sea doesn’t kill a devil fruits magic but that’s the only time we’ve ever seen a DF in a position where it could’ve been messed up.

IMO, it's like the forest of souls we saw on Skypeia.
The moment a devil no longer has a vessel to inhabit, be it a living creature or a fruit, it transfers to the nearest normal fruit.
If there are no fruits nearby, then the devil travels back to the tree that first generated it (Eve or whatever).
So, if you control this tree, then flood the world so there is no flora around, every DF will reappear in your possession, unless the user finds a way to survive the cataclism.

DF users have been killed by drowning and the fruits still re-spawn. I think water does not affect the DF spirit at all.

We have already seem that DF contain spirits in Punk Hazard.
