Speculations Could/Will Usopp manifest a Devil Fruit ability?

#1
So I was just having a discussion about manifesting Devil Fruit abilities with @nik87, and it got me thinking about Straw Hat members with strong desires. Zoro is obviously one of them, which is indicative of Asura possibly being a Devil Fruit ability starting to manifest, but there is also another member of the crew who has an extremely strong desire that is linked to his dream, and that is Usopp.

Usopp's dream is to one day be a brave warrior of the sea. Throughout the manga we have seen countless incidents where Usopp would engage an enemy, and at some point during the fight, his run away instincts kick in. But after a short while, Usopp will always muster up the courage to come back and face the enemy one last time.

This is interesting for one very specific reason, that is, is that it showcases Usopp's desire to be brave, outweighs his fear of everything. No matter what happens, Usopp will always overcome whatever adversity he is facing, and turn back around to prove that he is brave. So this begs the question, could or will Usopp manifest a "brave" devil fruit ability, and if so, what would the power actually entail? If I had to take a stab at it, I could see it being something along the lines of him being able to break his limitations of being just a normal human, and be able to fight at a high level like the monsters of the World.

What do you guys think though? If Usopp does manifest a Devil Fruit power, what could it be?

Hory shet!!! I think you hit the nail on the head here. :crazwhat:
I was wondering what would be the switch, they key moment, that changes Usopp from a coward into a brave man and could never imagine a scenario that would create such a drastic turn in his personality.

Obviously, nothing so far has worked for Usopp.
Getting more powerful didnt make him into a brave man. Mustering courage and saving people in the end didnt make him brave either.
It seems that the solution to his problem doesnt exist, not yet.

It could easily be that the solution is Usopp's evolution through first-timer ability like Zoro's and it also could be a God tier ability to make use of his God Usopp pun... I guess it would end up a mythical Zoan but what specifically it does to make him brave is unclear. However, there are hints of it through Sogeking, Usopp's alter ego that is brave.

We could also pin down its narrative purpose, foreshadowed through his encounter with Perona's negativity - only his pessimism could withstand her ability. Enel says "Fear is a God" and I theorized before that Fear is one of the God fruits too but is completely hidden so far and that could be narratively tied to Usopp's Brave evolution because it is the complete opposite of Fear that might paralyze all others just like Perona's negativity did.

If you need devil fruit to become a brave warrior then you aren't really brave genuinely.

I guess it's just fodder level fruit.

Someone with false bravado with no strength to back it up

We have never seen an Example of a DF being Created solely from Desires/Dreams/Willpower
If Bonney did Manifest One, then her Desire to be Older cannot be the Only Ingredient

Bonney is Daughter of Celestial Dragon, so it's possibly, only CDs can Create DFs
And this is why They Value Number 16 which was Associated with them multiple times

There is a Real-Life Theory that says Humans have 16 Basic Desires (Desire for Appreciation, Food, Knowledge, Justice, Protection ... etc)
And this Number always shows up when CDs try to Execute Others (Such as Lulusia Destruction, Doffy's Final Attack & a Slave being Shot 16)
So it's possible that CDs create DFs Powers through Bastard Children

It's pretty clear with Saturn Powers Reveal & how Sabo described them & how They basically represent Illuminati & Satanists, that CDs are Devils of this World, so it makes sense that They give birth to Devils, when it's between them, you simply get another CD, but when it's a Bastard Child, They grow up to Unlock DF Powers

Both Bastard Children & their Mothers get that Sickness because the Child is supposed to Die, not only cuz CDs want to get rid of such Children, but also so that when They Die, their Powers get Transferred to Nearest Fruit, and this is also why this Sickness takes around 10 Years to kill that Baby & why They let them leave, cuz They want them to Die "After" their Powers Manifest.
But what if the Baby doesn't hide well & dies from Sunlight?

Well, Smile Fruits in Dressrosa needed Sunlight during their Production, so it's possible that this whole Sickness is because of the Devil growing inside them who needs Natural Light, meaning the more They are exposed to Sun, the Faster that Devil grows, the Sooner their Powers manifest & the sooner the Host dies (In Ginny's Case, She simply suffered from the Sickness without having any Devil inside her, cuz She was the Mother, She carried Bonney inside her)

I don't fully believe in this Idea, but i think it's a Good Food for Thoughts, assuming DFs indeed Manifest

I think you're missing the point of what these abilities initially are. Usopp wouldn't just be "gaining a Devil Fruit ability." His power would be a manifestation of his own desire. He himself will have created this ability in order to achieve his dream through his own willpower.

That's not the same as randomly eating a Devil Fruit by chance, and all of a sudden becoming brave.

That's actually a pretty good idea. Perhaps creating a Mythical Zoan "Hito Hito no Mi: Model Soegking" The bravest Uspp has ever been was with his Sogeking personality. In this way the ability itself wouldn't conquer his fear, but rather having the capacity of becoming Sogeking at will, would give him the confidence boost he needs to overcome that hurdle of fear.

Could he actually eat it? And if he could what’s the point? S bear already has everything the actual DF provides.
My theory on this is that devil fruits are linked to a persons mind and body. Serpahim Kuma wouldn't have to eat it. He will just gain it completely once he assimilates with Kuma's memories, and Kuma's real body is destroyed.

To truly make it impressive, he would become the embodiment of Bravery.
Whatever that means, lol.

...

I don't think it's that simple.

Someone who desires a Devil Fruit will likely have many other occurrences happen. For example, Momonosuke needed to grow up, but he didn't just create a Devil Fruit. Instead, Vegapunk had made an artificial one and he found it. Blackbeard desired the Darkness fruit, and he had to kill his friend to get it.

I think it's a wild leap of the imagination to think that it's possible for someone to dream of a new thing and a fruit somewhere near them will start getting swirly because the universe wants them to eat it.

I don't think it works that way. Oversimplification.

In Bonney's case, she probably just ate a weird looking fruit that ended up in one of the shipments they brought in to the church. There's usually a simple explanation for this kind of thing.

Imo he’ll eat a god fruit on Elbaf, specifically one for the God Elbaf who’s kinda the epitome of usopps dream and awakening that fruit will work into him completing his dream

Kinda late in the game for someone to actually eat a Devil Fruit. That leaves no time to awaken it.

I think whoever manifest a DF through desires doesn't need to go through that process. They already have the ability in its intended form.

Like I doubt whoever created the Nika Fruit (Joyboy?) desired to be a liberator of freedom and ended up a rubber man who had to awaken it.

I think Usopp has the ability to awaken the fruit since his dream is to be a brave warrior of the sea and Usopp even said that Dory and Broggy who worship Elbaf are the ones who Usopp attribute to the kinda warrior he wants to be
