Controversial Could Yamato legitimately transition via Ivankov?

Oda will probably never do this because he created Yamato's character for the sole purpose of fanservice, however I would argue that this would be completely in line with Yamato's personality and desires.

Yamato was introduced as the son of Kaido. While I and a lot of people here have used female pronouns for the character just because that's how the character is presented, I believe that Yamato's official pronouns are he/him and I think that is how the character has been referred to in the manga. Kaido at least calls Yamato his son and this is how Yamato introduced himself to Luffy and to Greenbull. There was also that bath scene post-war where Yamato was bathing with the men rather than the women.

Also Yamato did specifically say that he "became a man" to emulate Oden.

I feel like if Oda is going to introduce a trans character, he should take this aspect of Yamato to its logical conclusion. Whenever Yamato sets out on his journey, let him find Iva and transition.

I think this could even serve as a power up for Yamato. Since he is Kaido's son, its very likely that by taking testosterone, Yamato could gain a body comparable in strength to Kaido's. I feel like this could be how Oda has the SHs overcome Kuzan on the blackbeard pirates, via male Yamato.

Also there was a parallel between Momo and Yamato, the sons of Oden and Kaido. Momo eventually had his transformation of becoming an adult. Now Yamato will have his transformation making him a man. Through both their transformations, Momo and Yamato fulfill their character as the sons of Oden and Kaido. Adult Momo is said to look like Oden. Male Yamato will too look like Kaido.
