Yes this was obvious since Arabasta Arc when he said he Perfected his DF

He also happens to be first one to mention and explain Awakening

Something else to note is that he trained his DF so well that he can automatically dodge sneak Attacks by turning to Sand (Something Ace didn't show for example). I won't be surprised if this gets changed into Croco having Future Sight

You could say this was awakening before Oda really thought about it.

Croc already said he perfected his fruit, he turned walls in impel down into sand, which might just be a technique, but Oda can easily retcon it into an awakening no problem, especially after two years.

He is 100% gonna use awakening the next time we see him,

Just to clarify. No other logia does that. They don't turn their surroundings into their element (they simply produce it). That's what some awakenings have shown to do.

For that to be a feature of only Crocodile's logia would be a bit odd. This would be a perfect chance for Oda to act like he had that planned out as his awakening.
