Wrong forum to post this.

I myself am a huge MelonTeee simp and I listen to all her videos, vods and such.

I can clearly tell that this shitty WG community is not ready for talking about One Piece on such a high level (MelonTeee & King_Recon).

They are still talking kindergarten shit with powerscaling in the back of their minds and with the goal to ridicule the author, the story or a character/fandom.

Ya'll git gut lol.

I'm gonna be real, it's not like Twitter, Discord, Reddit, other forums, etc. are any better lol. All the online discussion platforms for OP are like this. Even if we count YouTube, a lot of it is just entertainment for people who wanna enjoy their free time w casual content, whether that's "yooo who wins?? admirals or yonko" videos for the 100th time in a given arc, poorly done theories that are like 90% fanfic/creative writing exercises, or chapter discussions that are mostly just recapping what happened, mixed with largely super palatable takes on the chapter. That's just how it is for OP(at least for the English speaking fanbase, idk how the Spanish/Japanese/Arabic/etc speaking fanbases are about it).

And I don't think it's cause people or dumb or whatever, but the series is super long, so that makes a couple things worse-
1. People not being caught up to the material they're speaking on to begin with, either going off of spoilers or recaps (youtube videos, twitter/reddit, etc)
2. People being caught up but not wanting to get super invested outside of just talking about the series casually with friends and online community members, cause they just wanna do other stuff w their free time time & the alternative would take a lot of time investment.
3. People not wanting to engage with the series beyond entertainment cause they lost respect for the author's writing, whether they're valid for it or not, it's easy to see this happening with 20 years and 1100 chapters worth of material to disagree with. (Plus, yeah, an online environment that acts like the pinnacle of media criticism is just being a skeptic 24/7 to the point of actively misunderstanding the story every chapter probably doesn't help )

All of this would realistically make it harder to get further invested in the series, especially through rereading the series in a new light and to better understand the themes, learning more about Oda's process through interviews, looking into how references in the series are used, etc.

..and for all that effort, what would someone get out of it? A new way to argue with people that clearly don't wanna engage in your arguments and waste your own time? plus maybe a condescending attitude? Cause outside of individual content creators making youtube videos, that's all you really see from people that mess with the series this heavy. Also related to another problem- where would you even discuss? Again, there's no actual place where I could go to other people just on the basis of being One Piece fans, to have discussions like that. At best there's discords for content creators, but those are limited to individual content creator fanbases, which is good for people who either just want a parasocial relationship or friends to talk to the series about, but it's very insular. So, every actual OP community/discussion platform is just gonna have people using the 'dude it's a silly pirate manga written by a chronic gooner lol' (which, fair enough, that's true) excuse to dismiss shit they don't agree with, rather than putting in any effort to actually express what makes the idea dumb or whatever. Whether it's the main reddit acting like Oda is a genius 500 iq master planner but only when it agrees with their own theories or thoughts about the series, or other communities being Oda-skeptics 24/7 who read every single chapter nonstop while acting like they can't give credit to a single thing the author writes or else it's the end of the world (which is just cope cause of how much time they feel like they wasted on the series)

Those are the issues I think actually impact discussing One Piece, more than people on a singular forum acting childish or whatever
