I think that other pirates ate the fruit during that time and that's what actually made it harder to find, since the navy wouldn't easily be able to find the fruit if some no name that sucked ass had it.

no i think the fruit wasnt ated by some random guy or whatever i think just like the roger pirates and oden who was waiting for the warrior who will surpass them i think the fruit was also waiting and escaping from the hands of the wrong person. The fruit i think chose luffy chose him as joyboy because it was destined

Although the DF substantially helped him achieving his goals so far I can't deny his efforts to empower his own combat power was robustly impressive so far in the series :cheers:
