I found it curious that Kaido didn't mention the name of Luffy's attack that he screwed up. We know Luffy had no problem with CoC in base form
But when Luffy was learning "Internal Destruction Haki" we know that he "failed" to use it properly. Hyogoro told him that he's straining himself too much.
I wonder if he tried to incorporate his new Haki into the KKG and failed at it. That's what Kaido seemed to imply, although the move he used wasn't made clear. This is probably the "rampaging villain" segment of the arc, similar to when Doflamingo was going around asking for Luffy's head.
When 895 rolled around, I remember comparing that chapter to when Cracker was defeated, saying they were similar, and voila 896 was the end. This is really giving me "I will finish this with a 1 hit KO" vibes from Dressrosa.
Once he fuses CoC + Internal Destruction CoA with King Kong Gun he will finally finish Kaido off.
